Emily Adelmann Obituary

Adelmann, Emily
New Paltz, NY: Of New Paltz, formerly of Rochester, passed away on September 17, 2008, after an heroic battle with ovarian cancer. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Clara Markham, and married to the late John Adelmann for 24 years. She is survived by 2 sisters, Martha Markham of Irondequoit, New York, and Jane Tupitza of Pughtown, Pennsylvania, 2 nieces and 2 nephews, many grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Highland, New York and Life Member of Christian Medical Society. Emily practiced pediatrics for 40 years as Emily Markham, M.D.
She served on the President's Advisory Board of Houghton College. She was a graduate of Jamestown, New York High School, Houghton College, and Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania.
Emily was an avid hiker and led the Hiker's Holiday at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz for 20 years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mohonk Preserve, Box 715, New Paltz, NY 12561. A Memorial Service will be held at North Baptist Church, 2052 St. Paul St., Rochester, NY, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 11:30 A.M. Interment will be private.

Emily was a dedicated physician and deeply loved the beautiful area where`she lived. She enjoyed hiking and skiing on the Mohonk Preserve and Mountain House properties.

She was a long-time friend and will be missed.
