Buchanan, Hilda A. "Sue"
Lyons: Age 83, went to be with her Lord Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Pines of Peace in Ontario.
Family and friends may call on Friday (Sept. 26) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. A funeral service will be held on Saturday (Sept. 27) at 11 am at the Lyons United Methodist Church, William St., Lyons, with Rev. Ellen Knight officiating. Burial will be in the South Lyons Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Lyons United Methodist Church or to the Pines of Peace, 2378 Ridge Rd. Ontario, NY 14519.
Sue was born December 8, 1924 in Lyons,a daughter to William A. and Iva C. Hosford Ashford. She graduated from Lyons High School and the Rochester Business Institute. She worked as a secretary and model at Eastman Kodak until her marriage to Earl on November 14, 1945. After military service and college, they returned to Lyons where their three children were bom and raised. She was a very active member of the Lyons United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sue retired from the Lyons High School as a secretary for the guidance office and was an avid bridge player. Her friends were very special to her. Sue will be remembered as a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all, especially to her church, DAR, and bridge club friends.
She is survived by her husband Earl of 62 years; three children, Deborah A. Buchanan and Laurie A. (Michael) Luenella, both from Washington State; Douglas E. (Rose) Buchanan of Texas; seven grandchildren, Kathryn, Jenna, Chelsea, Jordon, Andrew, Taylor, and Jason; two nephews, Dr. Alan (Ashley) Brodine of Rochester, and Dr. William (Sue) Brodine of Kansas; and brother-in-law, Norman Brodine of Rochester. She was predeceased by her parents, and sister, Lois A. Brodine in 2004.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I ask you to continue to bless Sue's family. Give them all wisdom, strength, encouragement and an overflowing abundance of faith. Thank you for the privilege of meeting Sue last year, and for her life. Bless us all as we go through our time of sorrow and sustain us each day. We will all look forward to our reunion someday with you and other family and friends who will be there to greet us in heaven. Amen
