Fishers / Rochester: Sept. 29, 2008, age 96. Predeceased by husband Sheldon (Dec. 21, 2002); in 1980 by daughter, Priscilla; in 1952 by sister, Virginia Lanphear; by parents Charles T. and Katharine Fairchild Lewis, of Canandaigua. Lillian Fisher was born Feb. 20, 1912 in Springfield, Mo., grew up in Kan., graduated in 1933 from Univ. of Nebraska. She married historian / activist J. Sheldon Fisher in 1939. They founded the Valentown Museum, worked to establish the Ganondagan State Historic Site and in 1982 were named Victor's "Citizens of the Year." Survived by sons, Lewis, San Antonio, Tex., Douglas and Warner, Rochester; by grandchildren, William Fisher, San Antonio; Maverick Fisher, Austin, Tex.; Jamie Jewell, Naples; Krista Fisher, East Rochester; Vanessa Boock, Canandaigua; Richard Fisher, Fairport; by seven great-grandchildren; by sister Virginia's son Charles T. Lanphear of Pittsburgh, PA.
Interment at Boughton Hill Cemetery, Victor. Public memorial service and reception will be held outdoors at Ganondagan State Historic Site, 1488 State Route 444, Victor, 2 pm, Saturday Oct. 4. Arrangements by Lucey-VanVoorhis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Friends of Ganondagan, P.O. Box 113, Victor, NY 14564.

I knew Lillian and Sheldon in the Univeralist church in Rochester during the 1980's. I remember how she cooked a big Thanksgiving turkey for several holiday dinners during those years. We always ate very well!
