George Filowick Obituary

Filowick, George, Jr.
"Buddy"
Riga/Churchville: Friday, October 10, 2008, at age 51, our beloved son, brother and uncle passed away at home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his parents George and Eleanor Filowick Sr.; sisters, Cathy Barnes, Rita Filowick & Judy Manley; nephews, Kris & Amy Stasiw, JJ Stasiw and Brett Stasiw; great-nieces, Megan and Hailey Clark; close friend Tom Barnes; his dear pet Benjie and many special friends.
Buddy's first love was farming. He established Budvale Farms at the tender age of 13. He would still be a farmer today if not for health issues. In 1989 he exchanged farming for building and created Budvale Construction. Buddy had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all of the lives he touched. A special thanks from the family to VNS Hospice for all of their love and compassion.
Friends may call Sunday, 7-9 PM and Monday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Walker Brothers Co. Funeral Home, Inc., 21 South Main Street, Churchville. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Brigid Church, 18 Gibson St., Bergen, NY 14416. Interment will follow in Riga Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Center Buffalo, NY (www.roswellpark.org) or the Churchville Volunteer Fire Department in Buddy's memory.

To all of the Filowick Family, I was lucky enough to get to know Buddy years ago at the county fair and through our Holstein Club. He was an instant friend to all who met him. I was always astounded by his courage, strength, and humor in the face of all the hardships that life sent him. Though our paths have not crossed often in recent years, he was still very special to me. His smile and laugh will live always in my heart, and I will miss him dearly. Please know that you and he are in my prayers and thoughts. God Bless you all. Much Love, Martha
