My husband and I were saddened to hear that Bob passed away. We knew him from our time @ field camp (IUGFS '94,'96,'97). He was a funny man and an inspiring teacher!

Bob was my teacher, mentor, and on at least one occasion champion. He was also my friend, and one of the most important people in my life. I am thankful that I knew him, and very much the better for it.

My deepest sympathy to the Cassie family. I never met Mr. Cassie, however, I know his son, Seth, and he is quite the young man. I know Seth will miss his dad, but all the fun memories will comfort him and his family. I look forward to hearing more of the stories of his family trips.

Our condolences to the family of Bob Cassie. He was our next door neighbor for a very short time, but he really impressed us with his friendliness the only time we spoke with him. He was a person whom we really would have liked to have known & after reading his guest book entries we have an idea what we missed by not knowing him better. The Converses

I wish to send my deepest condolences to the family of Bob Cassie. Bob was my mentor, inspiration, and "cattleprod" while earning my degree at SUNY Brockport. But above all else, he was my friend and I will miss him dearly.

We at the Massillon Museum feel a great loss in Bob's passing. He was a dedicated, gifted, compassionate man who, in his brief time volunteering here, touched everyone a great deal. His passion for photography, teaching, and for sharing time with people was evident immediately. He was so proud of his family's accomplishments, so proud of his connections to the photo lab in Rochester, and so anxious and happy to live life. He will be missed tremendously.

Dr Cassie was a class act. He was my favorite professor at SUNY Brockport and all of us from the Class of 82 were inspired by his teaching style and ability to interact with students. All of us from that class have fond memories of field trips and going out with the Doc hitting small towns after a day of climbing rocks. MY best memory that I still use today is when we were tresspassing on some land looking at a rock outcrop and the landowner asked what the hell we were doing. Doc just said "it is okay we are geologists" the guy looked around kinda stupified and said "oh then that is okay". Still use that line today when going places I should'nt. God speed Doc, and just remember to tell the big guy the same. It is okay I am a geologist :)
Thanks for the memories

I didn't know Bob for very long; he was President of the Camera Rochester Club when I joined not long ago. But I remember well his friendly warmth, kind smile, and love of helping others. My sympathy goes to his family and friends. His loss is felt by many.

When my daughter died in 2003, Bob gave me some wonderful advice, THANKFULLY, FOND MEMORIES OF SHARED JOYS WILL OUTLAST THE GRIEF. I found that very helpful at the time, and also more recently when I lost my mother and brother. I find it comforting right now also. I had urged him to copyright it and sell it to Hallmark, but he just smiled. That's how I remember my close friend Bob, gentle, kind, humorous and clever.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
