John Gott Obituary

Gott, John Warner
Columbia, SC: John Warner Gott, 87, husband of sixty years to the late Mary K. Gott, died Monday, October 27, 2008. Born in Avon, N.Y., he was a son of the late O. Howard Gott and Mabel Clark Gott. He served in WW II, receiving the Purple Heart and retired from the Army Reserves with the rank of Colonel. He was employed at Eastman Kodak, Rochester, N.Y. for 30 years. He was a Mason, a member of the Reserve Officers Association, Indian River Hospital Auxiliary and First Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach. A true gentleman, he was devoted to both his family and his community.
Surviving are his four children who loved him dearly: son, Jeffrey H. Gott of Cape May, N. J.; his daughters, Victoria G. Liggitt and Barbara G. Billet, both of Beaufort and Jonatha M. Gott of Cleveland, Ohio; sister, Jean McDowell of Norwich, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Central Presbyterian Church of Avon, New York.

I have many fond memories of visiting in Avon. Playing house on Temple St, turning the cherry tree on Main St. into a rocket, my first cream ale and so many games. Your Mom and Dad were great people who I will never forget. I hope to see you soon.
