Ed was a brilliant, loving man, always ready to share his time and experiences with any who were interested. His wisdom and gentle kindness will be missed greatly. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his friends and family, especially Jean. God bless you in this time of need.

Ed seemed like a good man, willing to talk with me about his life as a professor to help me decide whether that was a path I wanted to pursue. I value having known him and I am sorry to hear that he has passed on. My deepest sympathy goes out to his close family and friends. You will be in my prayers.

Jean, Cathy and Beth,
You are all in my prayers as I express my sincerest heart-felt sympathies for your loss. As you know, Ed was not only my mentor and colleague, but also my greatest friend. I will miss him very much. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

I am very sorry to hear of this news. I was always so honored to have studied under Dr. Schilling . . . a man who was so intelligent yet so humble and a man who has touched so many lives and truly helped Society with his research and applications and teachings. I tell folks when they see his Acceptance Sampling book on my bookshelf that I owe my lifestyle to that man for all that he did for me there!

Jean, I fondly remember our getting together at ASQ conferences after I left Rochester. Ed was a big influence on my getting my PhD. I was sorry he could not be at my recognition a few weeks ago at RIT.

Richard & I send our deepest sympathies to you, Jean, and your daughters Beth & Kathy. I have many wonderful memories working with Dr. Schilling at RIT's CQAS as his assistant in the 90's. I know how he loved flying and charting his route as he always wanted window seats! He will be dearly missed as he was a great man in many ways dedicated to his work and family. Our best to you at this sad time.
Love,
Diann Feeley
