Theodore Bauch Obituary

Bauch, Theodore A.
Venice, FL: Theodore "Ted" Bauch, 90, left us on Sunday, September 2nd, at his home in Venice, Florida. He will be fondly remembered by his surviving family, including his son Michael and his partner Carol Fletez of Columbia, MD; his son Steven and his wife Ann, and their sons Patrick and Sam, of Hurley, NY; his son-in-law Robert Odell and his daughter Dana of Eastchester, NY; his brother Jim and his wife Gail of Rochester, NY; and a dear friend, Jo Ann Perry of Venice, FL.
Ted was predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary McGreevy Bauch, in 1981; by his daughter Kathie Odell in 2000; by his brother Bob and Bob's wife Leora; and most recently by his wonderful wife of 23 years, at age 100, Louise Perry Bauch.
Ted's spirit was marked by a keen intelligence and a love of reading, crosswords (in ink) and limericks. He enjoyed golfing and bowling into his 70s and skiing into his 70s. Ted's second family, for close to 40 years, was at Eastman Kodak, where he was a chemist. He took great joy in raising his family with Mary in Irondequoit, NY, never missing an athletic, musical or dramatic event.
Colgate University, his alma mater, was an anchor in Ted's life and his fondness grew as he saw brothers, a son, and a grandnephew carry on this tradition. He and Louise attended his 60th reunion in 1997, but he was too frail to make his 70th (and his son's 35th) last spring.
Small town roots (Hamlin, NY) called Ted home in the 1960's when he and Mary found "the farm" on French Hill, near Swain, NY. Family and friends gathered and shared his joy in a "simpler life" for over 40 years. Here, his ashes will join those of his dear Mary for eternity.
For those wishing to mark Ted's full life, the family requests donations in his memory to Colgate University (800-668-4428) or to a charity of your choosing.
