Richard Samuels Obituary

Samuels, Richard M.
Boca Raton, FL: Friday, October 26, 2007, at age 91. He is survived by his adoring wife of 51 years, Marlene; sons, Richard, and John; daughter, Peggy (Lester Schwalb); grandchildren, Nate and Ella; and several nieces and nephews. Richard was co-founder, with his brother, Howard, of Kordite Corp., now owned by Mobil Chemical. He graduated from the University of Michigan and Harvard Business School. He retired as Vice Pres. of Mobil Chemical Co. and General Manager of Mobil Plastics Division. He was a past president of the Rochester City Club; served on boards of Rochester Community Savings Bank, the Memorial Art Gallery, the local United Negro College Fund, the Rochester Assoc. of United Nations and was a life trustee of the Center for Governmental Research. Richard was also a civilian teacher in the US Air Force from 1942-45 and a member of the Genesee Valley Club and past member of the Irondequoit Country Club.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 30th, 2 pm at Temple B'rith Kodesh, 2131 Elmwood Avenue. Interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation at 28 Sky Ridge Dr. on Tuesday, October 30th, 7-9 pm and Wednesday, October 31st, 2-5 pm. Contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
