Wilma Nelson Obituary

Nelson, Wilma R.
Sodus Point, NY: Wilma passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2007. Predeceased by her husband Gilbert Nelson; brother Victor Stevens; and sister Ruth Johnston. Born on Valentine's Day in 1917, "Willie" was a 1939 graduate of Park Avenue Hospital and Training School for Nurses in Rochester, NY. Much of her R.N. career was as an AT&T industrial nurse in New York City, until she retired in 1983 and moved to Sodus Point, N.Y. She was a member of the Sodus Point United Methodist Church and volunteered at Myers Community Hospital. She is survived by her daughter Micheline Walker of Winder, GA; step-daughter Sue Pester; grandson Andrew Walker of Winder, GA; granddaughter Tammie (Darin) Presley of Havelock , NC; and five great-grandchildren; Eryn, Rachel, Troy, Kayla, and Amberlyn. She is also survived by sisters, Glenna Stoner of Oviedo, FL, Shirley Schmid of Longwood, FL., Vernadine Gersey of Webster, NY; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday Nov.16, 2007 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the NORTON FUNERAL HOME, 45 West Main St., Sodus. Interment will be on Saturday Nov.17, 2007, 11:00am at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY. Family and friends are invited to Wilma's Memorial Service on Saturday Nov.17, 2007 at 4:00pm at the Sodus Point United Methodist Church, 7490 South Ontario Street, Sodus Point, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lifetime Hospice, 3111 Winton Rd. S., Rochester, NY 14623 or to Sodus Point United Methodist Church, 7490 South Ontario Street, Sodus Point, NY 14555 in Wilma's memory. Correspondence may be sent to her nephew Timothy Gersey at PO Box # 1012 Fairport, NY 14450.
