James O'Brien Obituary
Irondequoit: On December 3, 2007, at age 83, at home with his loving family at his side. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine E. O'Brien; 3 sons, James (Karen) O'Brien of East Fishkill, NY, Kevin O'Brien (Todd Kilmer) of Saratoga Springs, NY and John (Christine) O'Brien of Irondequoit and New Orleans, LA; 3 daughters, Laurie (Michael) Diehl of Irondequoit, Karen (Vaughn) Moonan of Irondequoit and Maureen (Dr. Daniel) Squilla of Webster; a daughter-in-law, Carol O'Brien of Clifton Park, NY; 19 grandchildren, Erin O'Brien of East Fishkill, NY, Shannon O'Brien of Seattle, WA., Maura (Jeremy) Kristel of Glenville, NY, Kathleen O'Brien of Clifton Park, NY, Meaghan O'Brien of Saratoga Springs, NY, Kevin Moonan of Troy, NY, Kaley, Brady, Colleen and Sheila Moonan, Kelly, Molly, Megan and Matthew Squilla, Maggie, Katie and Justin Diehl, all of Rochester, Alison and Nicholas Ingles of New Orleans, LA.; a great-grand-daughter, Keeley Kristel of Glenville, NY; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends. His parents, Charles and Bertha O'Brien; a brother, Charles O'Brien, Jr. and his sister, Dorothy Reudenauer, predeceased Mr. O'Brien.
Mr. O'Brien was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II; upon his return to Rochester after the war, Mr. O'Brien went to work for the R.E. Tanner Line Construction Co. from which he retired after 42 years of service. Also, Mr. O'Brien was a former member of the St. Margaret Mary Men's Club.
Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, December 6th from 2-4, 7-9 PM at the Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Rd. (between English and Latta). A Funeral Mass to celebrate Mr. O'Brien's life will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday, December 7th at St. Margaret Mary Church, 401 Rogers Parkway in Irondequoit. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association or St. Margaret Mary Church. The family extends sincere gratitude to Dr. Robert Kerper, for his kind and caring medical attention for the past 20 years.

Dear Lorraine
Our sympathy to you and your family on the death of Jimmy. I thought back, oh so many years ago, when all the cousins gathered at Grandma and Grandpa
O'Brien farm on Sunday's. We were all so close in age and how our Grandparents ever endured all the excitement, I will never know. I remember Jimmy and some of us raiding the grape vines until Grandma spied us and then "Oh boy". Also, could always count on Jimmy and you giving comfort when our branch of the family lost a loved one for which I thank you.
May Christ's love, peace and comfort be with you and your family.

I was so very sorry to learn of Mr. O'Brien's death. I worked for several years with his son, Kevin, at the New York State Energy Office in Albany. Kevin spoke often and fondly of his father. My condolences to Kevin and the rest of his family.

Kevin and family,
I was very sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. He was so nice to us and I remember the first time I saw him at your house on Eagle Trace. We stopped to look at buying our house and he was out in the yard. We spoke briefly. Later we went on to get to know him and your lovely Mother. They were always nice to my children, especially Jane.
Now Jay is out at R.I.T. and when I visit him I always think of your family. May the Lord help you through this difficult time. He was a great man.
