"Flossie" Markham
Brockport: Passed away peacefully in her home December 1, 2007, at age 86. Florence lived her entire life on the family farm settled by her great-grandfather in the early 1800's. She was one of the earlier graduates of the Brockport Normal School, now SUNY Brockport. Florence then spent her 35-year career in the Churchville-Chili school system teaching 1st Grade, 2nd grade and remedial reading. Florence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brockport.
Predeceased by her husband of 57 years John F. Thayer; brothers Harold and George Markham. She is survived by daughters, Mollie Schuff (Mike) of Brockport, Susan Hughes (Jim) of Rochester; sons, Mark Thayer (Sandra) of Syracuse, Dick Thayer (Sarah) of Schuylerville, NY; granddaughter Sister Mariana (Kristin) Thayer O.P. of Nashville, TN; grandsons, Brent Thayer of Syracuse, Bryan Schuff of Brockport, Matt Schuff (Emily) of MI; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7 at The First Presbyterian Church, 35 State Street, Brockport at 7 p.m. Reception immediately following at Brockport Vets Club. Contributions to Visiting Nurse Hospice, 2180 Empire Blvd., Webster, NY 14580, or First Presbyterian Church.

I'm very sad to hear about the passing of Aunt Florence. She was a wonderful women. I'll always remember her kindness and warm laugh. I'll never forget all of the good times at the farm with all of my cousins, aunts,uncles and animals. Everyone is in our hearts and prayers. Love, Martha, Jordan, Jamie & Jake

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one Florence Thayer. She was my first grade teacher at Churchville Chili in 1958. I will always remember her as very caring and an excellent teacher. She was always one of my favorite teachers.
