I miss you Stan. I always looked forward to Christmas time often because maybe we would see each again. I heard in the after life everyone is at the best that they were. Miss you. I hope someday we'll meet again.

My dearest Stan,

My heart aches with missing you. You touched my life with the special warmth, caring and graciousness that was so much a part of you. I still smile when I remember how you wore high-top sneakers with your long-tailed, white tuxedo when you took me to our Senior Ball! I am so grateful to have had you in my life. I wish you peace, namaste. All My Love, Alissa

Stan you have been on my mind and in my heart constantly...can't seem to let go of looking for your input on the HB forum...it just is not the same without you. Ken and I both miss you so much; the trip last year to TN, still so dear in our minds. I too have planted your memory garden and the Cherry chiefs are now in beautiful bloom, Salvia Stanley dreamsicle, B&B, Guaranticas, Blanche Sandman, as well as the Subrotunda you sent me a few years ago. Keeping you close in memory is comforting...My hummer came early this May. I feel you knew that and how I am now waiting again for them to return anyday....cause I still can hear your encouraging voice saying.." Carol, your'e gonna see one anyday now, I just know it!"

For all Stan's Hummer friends. what's the best deck plants to attract
Hummers. My red Geraniums attracted some. I'd love to see hummmming Birds this Spring and Summer. I'm not a Hummer Pro like Stan, but if I see one or two, I will think of Stan that day, and I hope and cherish the thought. If any Hummer friends of Stan could advise me I would really appreciate it.

Stan
Chris isn't the only nut on the block. Hey I just ordered 2 S. greggii Cherry Chiefs to go into your special memorial garden. No one would believe how much we all miss you. Several of us are planting memorial gardens for you and your S. Dreamsicle has been spread around the forum and renamed Salvia Stanley. I have been watching the map but so far no one in Nashville has reported any sitings. Hope you are watching over our little migrants and get them back to their summer homes safe and sound. Thinking of you always.

Hey Stan, what can I say...oh my gosh the hummingbrids are moving north at a faster pace this year, it's really crazy. And I can see that they have already hit Tennessee. And they will miss you...for sure. Heck they are already in NJ...I have been watching but so far no luck. Ha ha yeah always looking out the window...yeah that time of year.

Some might think I'm crazy for posting these messages..heck I don't care..someone paid for this so I will use it.

Sweet dreams my friend.

Hey Stan...God I still feel like I'm talking to you...Ok...whatever...So I took my first plane ride, and just like you said all went well. My son's graduation from Lackland AFB was awesome, he looked so handsome in his dress Blues. I just really miss him but I know he will be home soon, unlike you, my dear friend....rest in peace. Oh and by the way the RT's are heading north...the dots are on the map..but I will have to wait till the end of April. But I'm already getting started.

Will Miss you Always,
Your Hummer friend

Stan, It makes me sad to hear of your passing. To me you'll always be my buddy affectionetly called "Doonsbury" who worked side by side with me cleaning oven hoods and duct work. I remember the good times we had doing that incredibly nasty work. Without you working next to me there wouldn't of been any good times to be had at that job. Even though we lost touch after high school, your still in my thoughts. Rest in peace my old friend, I'm sure we'll meet again! Rick....

I had the honor of spending a few Xmas breakfasts with Stan and he was always kind and warm to me as if we'd known each other forever. I will forever be indebted to him for the love, friendship and support he gave my dear friends Patty, Trish, Lisa and Laura. When they hurt I hurt and I know they are hurting because Stan's passing has left a huge hole in their hearts. Stan, may you find peace, happiness, music & hummingbirds where you are...and quoting my old pal Boz if I may "see you on the other side".

Stan, after more than 30 years of being your neighbor, best friend, band mate, classmate, coworker and soul mate you've left the earth. You made a difference in my life. I will never ever forget you. I'll keep an eye on your parents and your brother for you. I love you Stan. Be at peace my brother.

I was so blessed to have met Stan and hear him play on several occasions. He was so much fun to hang out with. The angels are lucky to have such a talented bassist with them in that other place. I pray God will bless Stan's family and comfort them during this time. He was a special guy, sure to be missed.

To Stan's loving family,
Stan had so many friends here in Nashville and across the country. He has left many deeply saddened hearts with his passing. He was a gentle soul and a man we were proud to call a friend. My husband, Tom worked with Stan for many years at Provence. They were always friends. When Tom called me to tell me the horrible news we both were in shock and tears. His love for people, hummingbirds, music and fellowship he shared so very freely. He will be missed by so many. We count ourselves lucky to have known Stan and just wish it could've been for many more years. I know there is very little comfort we can offer you his family, but hope that somehow knowing that he was loved by so many friends will somehow help to cushion you through this very difficult time. Our love and deepest sympathies are with you all.

I lived with Stan before he moved to Nashville to be with his love. Stan loved music and I loved playing with him.

This old old song has been in my mind recently; I think it might have something to do with Stan. I was listening to the Steve Goodman version when I lived with Stan. The first verse goes:

The water is wide. I cannot get o'er..
Neither have I wings to fly..
Build me a boat that can carry two..
And both shall row.. my love and I.

Stan, I want to play music with you again!!

To Stans family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss. I just wanted to let you know what a great person he was. I only knew Stan from the Hummingbird forum but we became friends because of his kindness, knowledge and passion for hummingbirds and the plants they love. I just recieved in the mail a few weeks ago a great many seeds from Stans flowers. I promise you, I will plant these seeds in Stans honor and dedicate this part of my garden to him.

I will truly miss Stan and All that he was!!

May God bless you all and know he was well loved by all who knew him.

I never had the opportunity to meet Stan in person, but he was my friend on the hummingbird forum and I will miss him so much. Stan always was one of the first to welcome new forum members and was very generous with his flower seeds. He always had an encouraging word and praised any hummer picture that was posted. Mine were never good enough for the praise he gave, but it made me feel good!
My prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time. I know that Stan won't have to wait until spring to see his beautiful hummingbirds again...he is flying with them!

Stan, you enriched the life of every person fortunate enough to have drifted into your universe. I’m very grateful to have been one of those people, and I find it inconceivable that none of us will ever have the opportunity to return the countless kindnesses you bestowed on us.
I’ll forever regret that we weren’t able to spend time with you here in New Orleans, sharing the things you loved. I always assumed that one day you’d band hummingbirds with Nancy, play music with Craig and give me advice on my garden, which no matter how I labor will ever be the hummer haven you so lovingly cultivated.
I will think of you often, but especially when I am blessed by the presence of one of these beautiful, ephemeral birds, who bring such joy to our lives and are too soon gone.

I felt your vibe before I knew it to be true-and seeing it in print now I must accept it as reality (if possible). My tears are flowing for you my dear friend Stan. I reached out for you and can only hope you heard my message of love as my visit back to Nashville was too late but for the search...I did not know how short a time we truely would have when I spoke it. I will miss the conversation, the music, baseball,IHOP & Las Palmas weeklies, cold bottles of Coke & chocolates and bread baked with your special care.I will remember you always "being there", as you were to help me move to care for my father and kind words of support before and after his passing.
I will remember the warmth of our last hug when I visited in June and the loss of not experiencing that this visit...
My heartfelt condolences to the family - Stan shared much love and many cherished memories of you & his childhood with us in Nashville.
He was a Kind and wonderful person to have known.

Although it's many years since high school, I have never forgoten your kindness. Being the first day of school, and never have met one another, I asked to barrow 20 cents, and with no hesitation you reached in your pocket and handed me 20 cents. From that day on, each time we saw one another, you would say "got my 20 cents"? I do remember seeing you a few years ago, and paying back the 20 cents. As I read the guest book, and the friends you've made around the U.S. It seems to me that you left the same caring impression on them as you did me. Take care Stan. See ya on the other side. Boz

I first met Stan in September 2006 at our Rockport Hummer/Fest and found him to be perfectly charming, entertaining and knowledgeable. I found out about Stan's death last Tuesday evening! Needless to say, I was in shock. I could not believe that this wonderful, kind, giving person was no longer with us. The shock is now wearing off, but not the sadness. May Stan be resting with his beloved humming birds in beautiful gardens where the sun shines and gentle breezes blow. You will be sadly missed Stan!

Thanks for all the wonderful things that you gave to us and to the world. You will be deeply missed by your family, friends and the hummingbirds, which had become so important to you in recent years. This world will not be the same without your kind, caring, and graceful presence. May you now fly free, happy and at peace.

Stan was not just a wonderful friend to me. He almost seemed like a second son. My son and he had a lot in common although they never met. Stan's enduring love and concern for his Mom and Dad were always in our conversations. It was obvious, Stan gave his heart and soul to all who knew him, putting them ahead of needs of his own. He constantly gave me encouragment during my husbands illness this past year.I will always remember our trip to see him in May. We shared a love for baseball, hummingbirds and gardening. Stans plants that he sent me will be a loving memory forever.

My deepest condolences to the family.

God Bless and rest in peace, Stan.

Here's my thoughts It is from a song from a band I heard in Jackson Hole WY. I am going to change some of the words, but so many people are more eloquent than I am so I want to share this phrase of a song, that explains some of my emotions
It was many years ago, you started out to roam, you left behind your family, you left behind your home. Obviously it was different, in this world of change I miss you from yesterday, and I pray you're home.
Stan was one of my best friends. He was so genuine and charismatic Not many people have both those traits.
I am going to miss him so much.

Stan, you were like my brother and I am heartbroken that you are gone. We were going to make music again, we were going to start some great new things and make some more magic. You were one of the reasons I felt so great about moving home to Nashville. Ours years playing together, your visit to me in San Francisco, and your comforting me when we lost Vince in '06, all beautiful memories I will cherish. I'm at such a loss of words. I love you Stan, and you will be missed forever. Goodbye, Glad Man. We'll never forget you.
