Nathan Von Niederhausern Obituary

Nathan Scott Von Niederhausern 12/30/1977 ~ 8/29/2008 Nathan Scott VonNiederhausern, 30, a remarkable young man, was called home early, Aug. 29, 2008, after a courageous battle with unexplained lung cancer. He was born December 30, 1977 in Salt Lake City, UT to Richard Scott and Esther Sharp VonNiederhausern. He was raised in West Jordan, UT and graduated from West Jordan High School. He was an active member of the L.D.S. Church throughout his life. Fulfilled a mission 1997-1999 to Rome, Italy. He was currently serving as Elders' Quorum President in his ward. Worked for Otto Bock Co. Married Kristy Carlile March 23, 2001 for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Nathan was a quiet, unassuming, gentle, kind, friendly person, quick to learn and willing and ready to serve others. He was a good-natured tease with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, reading, building things for his family, artistic painting, and, most of all, spending time with his wife and two sweet sons. He was an Eagle scout who lived the scout oath, slogan, laws, and motto to a "t" and endured nobly until the end. He was certainly always prepared in life and for death as well. He had a strong testimony of the Plan of Salvation and of the Savior Jesus Christ. He is survived by his loving wife, Kristy, sons Casey (3) and Clayton (1), his father and mother; brothers and sisters: Bryce (Karlene), Bountiful, UT; Anthony (Lauri), Logan, UT; Cameron, and Melissa (Peter) Houston, West Jordan, UT; LaDawn (Jeffrey) Vermeeren, Calgary, Canada; Kristy's father and mother: Lonnie & Sue Carlile; and her brothers and sisters: Carie (Chris) Landell; Kale (Jennifer) Carlile; Ken (Kim) Carlile; and 20 nieces and nephews who will miss Uncle Nate. Funeral services will be held Wed. Sept. 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Hillsdale LDS Ward building located at 3175 S. 3450 W. where a viewing will be held 9:45 -10:45 a.m. prior to the services and Tues. night 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Taylorsville Cemetery located at 4500 S. Redwood Rd. In lieu of flowers, contributions could be made at any Zions Bank location in his name. GOODBYE, NATHAN, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WONDERFUL EXAMPLE. WE LOVE YOU.

Hello Kristy, Casey, and Clayton,
We are sad to see our friends and neighbors have to endure the lost of a loved one. Our heart aches for your family, but we are here for you if you need anything. The service was beautiful, a wonderful way to remember Nathan.

Kristy we will always remember when there was someone who was in need, or service to be done, Nathan always had a glow about him and a smile on when he was serving others. We appreciate all the times he called and asked for us if we can help a family in need of service. We enjoyed having that experience to service with him and to know Nathan could always count on us.

We also enjoyed the other side of Nathan, being a husband, father, friend and neighbor. We remember all the get togethers for Halloween, skit shooting with the elders or having a BBQ etc...the fun side of Nathan.

Nathan showed us a Great Man loved his family, honored his priesthood and served his Heavenly Father while he was here on earth. He was a great example to all of us.

We love your family and are here for you, for anything.

Dear Kristy and Family, We were so saddened to learn just today of the untimely passing of Anziano Nathan. Sister Flosi and I have very fond memories of his arrival in the Italy Rome Mission in February of 1998. He served with us for three quarters of his mission. He was a wonderful missionary, a mission president's dream. He was diligent and hard working. He was such a wonderful example to all of the missionaries. He studied and worked hard and was loved by the Italian members and investigators that he worked with. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and be assured that his exemplary life has assured him a place close to our Heavenly Father where he will continue to watch over you and your boys.

Sincere best regards and God Bless.

I wish I had the words to heal your heart and make it whole again but, unfortinately I don't. YOU ARE LOVE. My prayers are for you and your little boys. You are one of my bestest friends and looks like we can share our burdens together. I would only want this to be on me and not to be on you. Your sweetheart loved you so much. I saw it in his eyes and his kind smile. Always remember he loved you above all. I can see why he did. We are both lucky to marry the men of our hearts and have them forever and ever. That is a gift that keeps on giving even if it hurts for this time in our live. The glory is he is yours forever. We are the lucky ones to keep the memories and dreams alive in this life. He lived and you are the one he loved and created life with. May you feel him near alway. Heavenly Father made this all possible so we can always feel them when we need them most. You are loved your little boys are loved. Keep him always close to your heart it will make your faith stronger and closer to the lord. Heavenly Father is only one moment away. Love you my sweet sweet friend.

Hi Von Niederhausern family,
I just wanted to share with you my deepest sympathies at the loss of such an incredible bloke. I had the privilege to serve with Nathan and totally loved it. He was always ready to serve others, he cooked really well and was a great wrestler.
I was visiting Palmyra one time and was speaking with a missionary couple that was serving at one of the sites. It turned out the Elder was Nathan's old scout leader. I remember well that he spoke fondly of Nathan as such a great example.
I wish you my very best.

Dear Kristy & Family,
There are no words to express my sorrow for you all. Nate was always such a hard worker and always had a smile for you. When you asked him about the family he just beamed with pride talking about all of you.
I retired from Otto Bock over a year ago, but he will always hold a special place in my heart. I could always count on him for any help or information I was looking for.
God Bless You And Your Family.

While I always appreciated Nate's genuine smile and friendliness at family get-togethers, the event that sealed his fate as an "extraordinarily cool cousin" was when he and I snitched Aunt Rozella's famous Peanut Blossom cookies from the kitchen while the rest of the family waited paitently for dessert in the other room. Its memories like this that keep us going and remind us of special people like Nate who have touched our lives for a small moment yet leave long-lasting effects. I know God will bless those who feel the pangs of His son's departure and fill their hearts with assurance and hope because not only does Nate love these people but so does their Heavenly Father.

Dear Von Niederhausern family,
Nate was an amazing missionary who will be missed by many missionaries and members from the Italy, Rome mission.
He was extremely hard working and always had a positive attitude no matter what the circumstance.
He kept us laughing with his quiet sarcasm and kept us fed with his mom's great bread.
He loved to be in the kitchen making food for other missionaries and serving in whatever way he could without any desire for recognition.
He loved to show pictures of his family and talk to anyone he could about how great you are. It was obvious he was proud to be a member of your family.
I know you were always proud of him, but as a missionary he was exceptional!

Dear Kristy and Family,
Words cannot express the sorrow we all feel at Otto Bock at Nathan's passing. Your loss is also our loss. He was a very unique individual. I worked with Nathan for 5 1/2 yrs and will miss working with him. He showed me through his actions and kind words to everyone the kind of person everybody should aspire to be. Nathan always got a smile on his face when he talked about the silly things Casey did or said and I had looked foward to hearing about the same things with Clayton. Remember he is always with you and your two wonderful boys. God Bless you and your family.

One of my fondest memories of Nate was when he was our Home Teacher prior to his mission. He served in that capacity for several years. Even though he was the younger of the two, he always came prepared with a well thoughtout message that pertained to our family. We learned to love him as one of our own. We cherish his memory and are saddened to hear of his passing.

Dear Kristy,
It is also hard to see you have to go through this. We have felt honored that Nate married into our family and became a member of our family. We are so proud of you and the strength you have shown and the way you took care of your sweet husband. We know it went both ways, he took care of you as well. You two made marriage look perfect and something that we all would like to have ours be. Know that our family loves you and that we are here for you and will do what ever you need. We pray that the comforter will bless you and you will feel the love of your Heavenly Father and Savior in the days ahead.
Love you,

Dear Kristy:
I am deeply saddened at Nate's passing. I know that he will suffer no more from the cancer he fought with tremendous courage, valor and determination. Nate was such a great example to me. He is and shall continue to be missed by all at Otto Bock. He made everyday at work more enjoyable with his humor and funny remarks. He never complained and was very conscientious about the things that needed to be done. He always spoke with great love and admiration of you and his precious sons. I pray for your strength in the days ahead may God bless you and your family with comfort and peace knowing that Nate loves you all and is watching over you. My heart and prayers are with you and my love and support.
Sincerely, Kathie Brenenstall

I served in the Italy Rome Mission with Nate. We lived in the same area for a few months in a city called Battipaglia. He was such a joy to be around and we had a wonderful time together. Elder Von always had a smile on his face or a quick joke to make sure everyone was having a good day. He is a great man and I was lucky to have the opportunity to serve with him. I am terribly sorry for your loss and my prayers are with your family at this difficult time.

Dearest Kristy:
Words cannot express to you the deep sadness that our family feels with Nathan's passing. We love you and pray Heavenly Father's comfort and blessings to be with you and your two little boys at this most difficult time. I, personally, am so grateful to have known Nathan. He had a strong testimony of the restored Gospel and certainly has been called home early for a specific reason known only to our Heavenly Father. I know with all my heart that his life was prolonged for a reason and stood in amazement at the courage with which he faced this illness. He will not be forgotten. With all of our love and prayers to you and your family.

Dear Kristi,

I was shocked and saddened to hear about Nathan's passing. It seems like only yesterday that I saw him with his youngest child in the lobby of the meetinghouse.

I still remember how Nathan took me to Lowe's one Saturday to help me purchase and, with others helping, installed two window air conditioners
for me.

I wish that I could attend the funeral Wednesday, but I have to work that day.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and I ask that Heavenly Father send you comfort and strength at this time.

I am saddened to hear of Nathan’s passing. Nathan and I worked together at Otto Bock where his enthusiasm, knowledge, and sense of humor made him a standout. He treated all with kindness and respect, never losing his temper or wit in difficult situations. He was always humble about his accomplishments and deeds, excepting his family, which he spoke of with obvious pride. He is greatly missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family.

My love and friendship to you and your, always.

Richard, Esther, and Kristi...

My condolences to you and the rest of your families for your loss. Having spent a lot of time over at your house while growing up, I have fond memories of spending time with Nathan. He was always a hoot on campouts and at other youth activities. I'm not surprised at all to hear that he was serving his family, his church, and his God faithfully until the end.

Nathan, You are the best and most diligent home teacher I've ever had. The most fun Elders Quorum president ever. And someone that I am going to miss so deeply. You have been a great friend, and a great leader. I hate moving (helping people move into/out of their homes), but when you would call and ask if I could help, I couldn't say no, because I knew that even if it was just you alone, that you would go and do it, so I'd go just to help you. I love your sense of humor, and I know that whatever we were doing we would have a good time as long as you were along, you would brighten everyone's day. I know that it won't be long before we will all get to see you again, this life is just so short, and although I am sad that I won't get to see you here, I know that I will see you again, and I know that you are in a far better place than here. God must have a great work for you to do, to call you home so early.

Kristy, our deepest condolences go out to you and your family, we love you guys so much, I know that death is such a difficult thing to deal with, but you are surrounded by people that love you. You would come with Nathan every month to visit, and every month Nathan would say, "Is there anything that we can do for you guys?", well it is my turn now, is there anything that we can do for you? Please don't hesitate to ask, we are here for you, and we care about you and your family, you guys are in our hearts and prayers.

With my sincerest love and friendship,

D. SKye Hodges
