Charles Astle Obituary

Charles Mayhew Astle, Jr. 1922 ~ 2007 Charles Mayhew Astle, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 26, 2007.He was born August 30, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Charles Mayhew and Rosie Lorena Bolton Astle. He married Georgetta Marie Lunt on January 6, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He enlisted in the army and served in France and Germany during World War II. He received a Bronze Star for his meritorious service. They resided in La Crescenta, California until 1985 when they retired to Salt Lake City. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He faithfully served in many church callings. He served as a Bishop for eight years. He was an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 17 years. He and his wife served in the Utah Salt Lake Mission 1991-1993. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Georgetta; Survived by four children, David (Nita) Astle, Kay (Robert) Johnson, Janice (David) Eccles, and Sharon (Stan ) Coleby, 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and a sister, Lucille Anderson. Funeral services Tuesday, Sept. 4th, 11 a.m. at the Millcreek 2nd Ward, 4220 So. Jeanine Dr. (400 E.). Viewing on Monday, Sept. 3rd, 7-8:30 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple St. in Salt Lake City, also at the ward on Tuesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery. I'm sorry I was unable to attend any of the events surrounding your father's passing to give you my condolences in person.
