Karen Harwood Obituary

Karen Harwood 1940 ~ 2009 BOUNTIFUL- Today a wonderful spirit returned home to her Father in Heaven. Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin and friend fought a long and valiant battle against M.S. She finally succumbed to the secondary effects of the disease on April 29th. She was born on June 4, 1940 to Turner and Elinor Burningham in Salt Lake City. She lived in Bountiful with her two sisters, LaRae (Bert) and Jenny (Owen) and her brother Steve (Lyn). She attended Stoker Elementary School and graduated from Bountiful High. She married J. Keith Harwood on Nov. 20, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren before health problems prevented her from doing that. Her faith in God was strong and she stood faithful until the end. She is survived by her children Greg (Lori), Karie (Bobby), Allen (April) and Shane (Hannah). She has 21 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great grandson, Brody. verybody that knew her understood the kind, generous and loving spirit that she possessed. She was one of God's great spirits sent here to earth to be a shining example to others. She excelled at that job and she will be greatly missed by everyone that ever came into contact with her. Mom,
I'm trying to hard to go on with life without you, but it's so hard. However, knowing that I will see you again is what keeps me going. At the viewing you looked so peaceful and beautiful. I'm so thankful to have you as my mom, and will try my best to be even half to mom to my kids that you were to the boys and I.

Well, Sweet Sister, I can only hope you are now with Dad, Mom, Grandma Smith and the rest of our family in heaven. I know your body has now been made whole and you are finally dancing through the dasies and I am thankful for that....I'm so sorry your life here was so painful. You looked beautiful and finally at peace...but I miss you. Maybe you can give Dad, Mom and Owen a kiss for me. I love you Karen....walk with me.
