I want to say how sorry I am at your lose. Those of us that knew her hold her in our hearts. I had the privilege to serve with you and her in Iowa. She showed me how to love. She knew how to love unconditionally, something that I'm trying to practice everyday.

our Family sends Love and condolences to your family at this time. i served in the Iowa Des Moines Mission and was it was my honor anr privolege to have the Wellings as one of our Presidents.
When i first met sister welling i knew she was a very loving spirit and she treated all of her missionaries as her own children and was always there for us, even after our missions. we will miss her but we will see her again.
her spirit will always shine.

Dear President Welling & Family,
I received the information late about Sister Wellings passing. I would not have missed the services for the world. I considered Sister Welling like a second mother and in many ways like the mother I have always wanted. I will always carry the impressions that she left on me during my service in Iowa. What a wonderful woman, companion and faithful servant she was/is. I hope this correspondence finds you filled with strength, love and hopes and faith of that future day that you will see your loving companion again. What a wonderful blessing it will be for Sister Welling to hear those words “Well done thou good and faithful servant". Until you are together again know that you are loved and cared about more than can be expressed. All of our love,gratitute and sympothies to you and your family.

I will never forget Sister Welling bringing us English Toffee and hugs in the Salt Lake Airport on our way to Iowa. I was so confused as to why the Mission President was meeting us in Salt Lake instead of Des Moines! Your wife has always been my example of Christlike love and acceptance. Any time I have written a card or been to the bedside of someone in need, I have thought of her. I hope it will be okay with you for me to participate in a triathlon this weekend in her honor. I love her dearly, and will think of her. Thanks for sharing her with us missionaries!

I have such wonderful memories of President Welling telling his stories as Stake President, and his lovely wife always smiling and kind. Such a sweet and wonderful woman...such little acts of kindness that helped shape my life. My family has always loved "The Wellings!" May you find comfort in the eternal knowledge that we have. I went to Douglas School, Roosevelt Jr. High, and East High with Carla. I loved her all those years. She loved everybody. I have seen her in the temple many times and she was always so glad to see me. She has always been a beautiful lady. I was so sorry she was ill and saddened by her passing. I just want you to know my feelings and my prayers are with you. You have a wonderful wife and mother.

I'm saddened at your loss. Sister Welling always made me feel loved and good inside after talking to her. She had a wonderful spirit that the Lord blessed her with and everyone that got near your sweet wife could feel that spirit.

We were so sorry to read about Carla. She was a great and giving person. Not only did we live next door to the Iversons, Carla and I were in each others wedding parties.
Although I have only seen her in passing the past 50+ years, I think it was called Uncle Sam, children and going our own directions. She will never be forgotten.
Bud & I will not be able to attend the funeral as be have been under the weather the past year.

My wife and I are serving a Temple mission in Nauvoo and what a shock to learn about Carla's death. I worked in the Bountiful temple for several years as an engineer and grew to love you both very much. Both of you were a great example. Our prayers are with you always at this time.

We enjoyed knowing Carla Welling while she was serving in Des Moines, Iowa with her husband as Mission President. Our PALS group were blessed with their company enjoying a dinner night out each month. Her sweet spirit made all feel welcome in the Mission home and at church meetings.

I am saddened to hear about our loss. I am out of town for business meetings and will unfortunaelty miss the funeral, but know I wish I could be there. Ever since I heard the news, my heart has been saddened. My thoughts and prayers go out for you in this difficult time.
- - To our Missionary Mom, with whom I shared a common birthday. I'll cherish all the missionary memories, especailly the one of going to a birthday pancake breakfast with you and President in Iowa City. You made a great impact on many people's lives. Thank you for your example.

Sister
Welling took me at the age of four at the request of my mother to teach
me to play the piano, as I was was bored when all the children in the
neighborhood went to school. She started me on a life-long love of
music and the piano, one which I continue with today with my own family
and piano students.
She will be missed by many, but perhaps she is reuniting with her
family and friends, my mother included, on the other side.

How blessed I have been to call Carla a friend. I served with her in the Bountiful Temple and she was a very special friend to me. She even witnessed the sealing of me to my family and she felt like family. We joked often about me being "the oldest". We could have met many years ago in Haiti, Mo., but missed each other by a few months. My love to all of her family and especially to dear Pres. Welling. She will always be in my thoughts.

What a wonderful woman! I served with President and Sister Welling in the Des Moines, Iowa Mission. From the day I met her, I knew she was a kind loving person. I have never met anyone that smiled more than Sister Welling. She constantly looked for ways to help others. When you first met the Wellings you felt as though President Welling ran the house, but it quickly became apparent that Sister Welling wore the pants in the family.
One of my favorite experiences with the Wellings (and one Sister Welling talked about every time we got together)was when they first got to Iowa. We took one of their garage door openers and told them that Iowa had a strange phenomenon called "Electrical Storms". These storms could make certain electrical appliances turn on and off at will. For the next week we drove by their house periodically and open or close their garage door. Every night we would stop by to see them and she would tell us how another storm must have passed by.
Sister Welling will be greatly missed. How grateful I am for the knowledge that I will see her again!
