I've just now learned of Dan's passing. I received my Eagle Scout award at the same ceremony as Dan, we were good friends then and exchanged email many times over the years. You have my deepest sympathy.

I just returned to Columbus and was saddened by Dans passing. We had many wonderful discussion when we worked together at the Division of Real Estate. I will keep you in my prayers. Dan was a good man, a good friend and was especially proud of his family.

I have known Dan since we were both students at OSU and through local Republican events. I have always known him to be a dedicated and thoughtful person who was truly committed to helping others. He also truly loved his family. I am so sorry for your loss and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him

Passenger rail lost a friend. Dan was a constant, steady advocate of an Ohio that he thought could be even better. We shared many times discussing our policy differences and our common view of the goodness and effectiveness of the public purpose and interest. I thought we lost the last real decent Republican American in Grand Rapids several months ago; instead we lost him now.

I knew Dan both through the Department of Commerce and through the local Republican Party. We shared numerous interests and I am truly saddened to hear of his untimely passing. My prayers are with his family.

I recall Dan as a gentleman with a sense of humor and a great curiousity. His involvement with rail transportation was, I am sure, just one example of the many interests he shared with family and friends. The Ohio railroad industry benefited from Dan's participation and his commitment to improve Ohio's economy and help its citizens. Our deepest sympathies to Dan's family on their terrible loss.

On behalf of the Ohio Rail Development Commission, you have our deepest sympathies. Dan was a lifelong and dedicated advocate for rail in general and passenger rail in particular. He brought that dedication to his position as a Commissioner for the ORDC and we greatly valued his thoughtful approach to the issues. To say that we will miss him doesn't begin to describe what we feel in losing him as both a friend and colleague. But our loss pales to that being felt by Dan's family.

I was so sorry to hear about Dan. I knew him when he worked in the Division of Real Estate, and I was Legal Counsel in another division on the same floor. He was such a nice person, a hard worker, intelligent, and had real strong ethics and values. Not many people in this day have the integrity he had. I enjoyed knowing him. It is such a shock and a loss to his family and everyone who knew him. I wish his family well, especially his little daughter who will grow up without the father who loved and adored her.

On a personal level, you could not find a better and more loyal friend than Dan. I will miss both his wit and his wisdom, which were equally good and always thoughtful.
Rebecca...your Dad always beamed when he spoke of you. I know you will make him proud everyday in whatever you do. And his spirit will always be with you as you live your life. He would want you to be strong when faced with a challenge and have compassion for those faced with their own challenges.
