I had the pleasure of waiting on Mr. and Mrs. Farrell many times every Friday night at Bob Evans during my high school years. We had many long conversations and they even came to my high school graduation party. Mr. Farrell was the sweetest man and he always had an intersting story to tell and it is very sad that he is gone.

Richard Farrell was a friend to all harmonica players and always good to deal with. I regret that I never met him in person, but only did business with him by phone. My condolences to the family.

We express our deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Farrell. He and his wife "Alice" were our neighbors for many years. We will surely miss Mr. Farrell's humor and his entertaining stories. While mowing his fields in his crisp white long sleeve shirt, Mr. Farrell would often stop his tractor next to our fence and spend hours in conversation. He was quite a character. We will miss you, neighbor.

As a member of The Buckeye State Harmonica Club, I want to offer my sympathies to Dick Farrell's family. Dick was a kind, warm, engaging, and generous person who contributed immeasurably to the harmonica world. His bright smile and wonderful conversational talent made him a delight in person and over the telephone. Though we miss him, it's nice to know that he's watching over us.

Mr.Farrell was a great friend to the
Harmonica community world wide. He took time to help everyone from beginner to seasoned professional. His research and innovation in customizing and improving hamonicas promted manufacturers like Hohner (Germany) and Hering (Brazil) to adopt changes suggested by him. Without fanfair or praise expected he helped many harmonica players who did not have the means to aquire quality instruments or to attend a harmonmica event - sometimes sponsoring players from abroad. His main interest was providing harmonicas at a reasonble price. He paid his employees well. - profit was not foremost in his business. He was a special friend to the Buckeye State Harmonica Club, Columbus, Ohio and will be missed by all. The sounds of harmonica music in heaven are a little sweeter now. Farewell; friend. Richard and I had many years of good conversations and ideas for the harmonica's improvements.. He made a difference in the music world, for sure. And, we had a lot of fun along the way. He will be missed, but not forgotten by his many musical friends...Sincere wishes for comfort in his passing..For The Harmonicats, DICK GARDNER, Bass Cat and repair guy!
