Della E. Donato

Della E. Donato formerly of Leominster, Fitchburg native; 88 WATERVILLE, Maine Della E. Donato, died peacefully at Maine General Medical Center on July 9. She was born Della E. Langelier in Fitchburg, MA, on November 19, 1919. She was the only daughter of Hector and Leonie Langelier of Fitchburg, and was the second youngest of four children. She attended Fitchburg schools, and later at the age of 19, married John B. Donato, also of Fitchburg in 1938. During her marriage of 52 years (John passed away in 1990), she lived in numerous towns in Massachusetts: Lakeville, Middleboro, Plymouth, Leominster, Fitchburg, Shirley and about 10 wonderful years in Venice, FL. Della left behind her two sons, Joseph and his wife, Sherry, of Waterville, Maine, and John and his wife, Kelly, of Smithfield, Maine. She also had three grandchildren, Jill and her husband, Jason Meuse of Newton, NH, J. Michael Donato of Raleigh, NC, J. Matthew Donato of Charlotte, NC; and two great-grandchildren, James and Lila Meuse. Besides her immediate family, Della is also survived by two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Della moved to The Park Residences in Waterville in 1999 from Leominster, where she had lived for 15 years prior to moving to Waterville and had many friends there. Della enjoyed her grandchildren very much and liked to spend time talking with them, especially when they were young, about their many activities. She was very close to John and Joe and was often with them in her later years. Della was an avid puzzle solver and over the years had been known to spend countless hours putting the pieces together. She enjoyed playing cards, which she did all of her life, and was always a willing partner if there was a shortage of players. DONATO There will be no visiting hours but burial rites will be held in the Pieta Chapel at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fitchburg, MA on Friday, July 25 at 11 a.m. Committal prayers and interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the charity of your choice.
