Bruce Stokes formerly of Leominster; 56 Suitland, MD Bruce Stokes, July 19, 2008, age 56, of Suitland, MD, after a long illness. Born October 21, 1951, in Augusta, GA, Mr. Stokes was the son of the late Eddie Lee Austin. Bruce grew up in Leominster and graduated in 1970 from Leominster High School, where he served as President of the 100th graduating class. After college, he taught high school and college classes and was employed by the national DECA organization. In 1979, he became a vice president for the National Council on Aging. Prior to his illness, Mr. Stokes returned to teaching. As a natural and enthusiastic leader, his strongest joy was helping young adults realize their talents and achieve success. At the commencement of the 100th graduating class of LHS in 1970, the Class presented Bruce an award that simply read: "Bruce Stokes: The Unforgettable Laugh, The Big Heart, The Outstanding Leader. We Thank You." To the Stokes Family and the LHS Class of 1970,

We have all lost a wonderful, charming, and vibrant member who will be sorely missed. I certainly have many fond memories of Bruce's big laugh and even bigger heart. He was an inspiration to me as a classmate at Leominster High and it is no surprise that Bruce had a rich and successful professional career. Bruce's passing is a terrible loss. We can only be thankful that we knew Bruce and had the opportunity for him to touch our hearts during our time together.
