Fred Huxley Obituary

Fred E. Huxley of Shirley, born in Chicago; 85 SHIRLEY Fred E. Huxley, 85, died Monday, August 4th at the Keystone Center of Leominster. Mr. Huxley was born in Chicago, Illinois, October 30, 1922 a son of Clyde C. and Bertha A. (Friend) Huxley and has resided in Shirley for over 60 years. Mr. Huxley?s wife of 61 years Ruth (Henry) Huxley died June 30, 2008. Mr. Huxley is survived by three sons and their wives; Fred E. and Miche? Huxley, John and Debbie Huxley all of Anchorage, Alaska, Robert A. and Doris Huxley of Shirley, a daughter and son in law; Marjorie and Robert J. Noble of Talkeetna, Alaska, a daughter in law; Lea Huxley of Shirley. He leaves six grandchildren; Robert J. Huxley, Angela Jahn, Kristina Kane, Galadriel Huxley, Laura Dewey and Kimberly Huxley, two step grandchildren; Joey Frelin and Tammy King and 14 great grandchildren. Mr. Huxley retired from Fort Devens in June of 1980. Mr. Huxley was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II and Korea. While in the service he worked at the Walter Reed Hospital in Baltimore and at the 112th General Hospital at Fort Devens. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged as Sergeant First Class. Mr. Huxley was a deacon at the United Church of Shirley. Mr. Huxley was active with the Boy Scouts, serving as a Cub Master and Scout Master. HUXLEY A funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday, August 7th at the United Church of Shirley, Lancaster Road, Shirley. Burial will be in the Village Cemetery. Calling hours will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, Ayer. Please see www.andersonfuneral.com for additional information.
