William Wehmeyer Obituary

William C. Wehmeyer Ashburnham, owned Wehco Inc.,WWII vet; 89 ASHBURNHAM William C. Wehmeyer, 89, of Ashburnham, died at home Sunday, August 10, 2008, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded in love by his family. William, son of the late John F. and Bonnie L. (Farnsworth) Wehmeyer was born in Creighton, Missouri and lived in Ashburnham 55 years. His beloved wife Alice R. (Ducharme) Wehmeyer died in 2007. William graduated from Creighton High School in Creighton, Missouri, and then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during World War II. For almost 30 years, he was employed at Simon Saw and Steel Co. in Fitchburg and for a couple of years, after was employed selling machines for the Klingerhofer Co. in New Jersey. He is best known, however, as the owner and operator of Wehco Inc. in Ashburnham for 30 years. William was a life member of the Thomas P. Sweeney Post 142 American Legion of Ashburnham. He is survived by four sons, Dennis K. Wehmeyer of Westminster, William C. Wehmeyer, Jr. and his wife, Jacqueline of Gardner, John A. Wehmeyer and his wife, Celeste of Winchendon, and Scott R. Wehmeyer and his wife, Rachel of Gardner; five daughters, Linda J. O'Kane and her husband, James of Ashburnham, Dixie F. Wehmeyer and her husband, Gary Castleberry of Pennsylvania, Debra A. Wehmeyer and her wife, Margaret Trafton of Ashburnham, Diane M. Garner and her husband, Douglas of New York, and Pamela A. Catorio and her husband, Michael of Gardner; two brothers, Richard Wehmeyer and Bobby Gene Wehmeyer, both of Missouri; one sister, Genieve Carlson of Missouri; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by one daughter, Sherry C. Breau who died in 1998, and three brothers, Loy Wehmeyer of Ohio, and Edgar Wehmeyer and George Wehmeyer, both of Missouri. WEHMEYER His funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, 34 Pearly Ln., Gardner, MA 01440. I will always remember the great times I spent at your parent's home. Dennis & I were in trouble a lot of the times but they always welcomed me back. Dad & Bill were great friends and were always helping each other with some project. In my youth it was my home away from home. Nancy and I send our deepest sympathies.
