Anna Maki

Anna Maki of Fitchburg, active in senior community; 87 FITCHBURG Anna (Kuriger) Maki, 87, of Fitchburg, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 in UMass Medical Center, Worcester. Mrs. Maki was born October 29, 1920 in Fitchburg, the daughter of Fred A. and Annie (Frasier) Kuriger. She attended Fitchburg High School. She was a member of the American Friendship Club of Cleghorn, Sons of Italy Post #169, the Golden Age Club, the Fitchburg Senior Booster Club, and the Friends of the Fitchburg Senior Center. She was a volunteer at Our Father's Table in Fitchburg. She was a certified nursing assistant and worked locally in the healthcare industry. Mrs. Maki was an avid golfer, and loved to bowl. She enjoyed playing cards, bocce and bingo. Her husband, Toivo O. Maki died in 1981. She leaves her companion of 13 years, Robert D. Cormier of Leominster; three sons, Tom A. Maki and his wife, Beverly, of Leominster, David W. Maki and his wife, Barbara, of Moorpark, CA and Robert J. Maki and his wife, Louanne, of Gardner; two daughters, Jane A. Caputi and her husband, Thomas, of Fitchburg, and Gail F. Rice and her husband, Robert, of Cape Elizabeth, ME; two brothers, William E. Kuriger of Fitchburg, and David E. Kuriger of Lyman, ME; and two sisters, Ruth Luchford of Acton, and Margaret E. DiPrima of Leominster; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Frederick H. Kuriger, Sr., and two sisters, Alice Fisher and Evelyn Toko. MAKI The funeral will be held Saturday, August 16, 2008 from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Christ Church, 569 Main St. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 3-6 p.m. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
