Richard Parker Obituary

Richard J. Parker of Fitchburg; 75 Fitchburg Richard J. Parker, 75, of Fitchburg and formerly of Leominster, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, in his home after a lengthy illness. Richard was born in Gardner, son of the late Earl Parker and Florence (Wood) Parker Cafarelli. He attended Clinton schools. For twenty-five years, he worked as a Janitor for Red Line Wall Systems, Inc. of Leominster. He was a member of the Fitchburg Lions Club, and actively volunteered for the Salvation Army. He enjoyed participating in Memorial Day parades, taking walks, bargain shopping, going for rides with friends, and sitting out on his porch with his wife. He leaves his wife, Phyllis A. (Harris) Parker; a step sister, Judith Smith, and her husband Ovila, of St. Albans, VT; a stepbrother, James Cafarelli, and his wife Tina, of Natick; three sisters-in-law: Ernestine Parker of TX, Ester Parker of FL and Viola Parker of OH; a brother-in-law, Roy Ellis, Sr., of MA; several nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Earl Parker, Jr., James Parker, Orrin Parker, and Howard Parker, a sister, Marion Ellis, and his stepfather, Victor Cafarelli, predeceased him. PARKER Richard's funeral will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008, with a service at 11:00 a.m., in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling. A calling hour will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to Diversified Home Services, 25 Tucker Drive, Leominster, MA 01453, or to the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer Center, 275 Nichols Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420. www.mcnallywatson.com
