Sophie (Theokas) Regopoulos of Leominster, Lowell native; 75 LEOMINSTER Sophie (Theokas) Regopoulos, 75, of Leominster, died Thursday, Sept. 25, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after a lengthy illness, with her loving family surrounding her. She leaves her husband of 54½ years, Angelo D. Regopoulos; one son, James G. Regopoulos and his wife, Michele, of Shrewsbury, MA; two daughters, Estelle Sawyer and her husband, Charles, and Patricia Arsenault and her husband, Dennis, all of Fitchburg; four brothers, William and Peter Theokas, both of Lowell, MA, Charles Theokas of N. Brunswick, N.J., and Dan Theokas of Vineland, N.J.; three sisters, Stella Theokas of Lowell, Georgia Drake of San Diego, CA, and Helen MacArthur of Lowell; 5 grandchildren, Joseph C. Sawyer, Sabrina Tata, Kimberly and Matthew Arsenault and Cailley McCullough; 4 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Zachary and Dillon Sawyer and Nickolas Tata and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, John Theokas of Sun City, AR, and one sister, Aphrodite Nikitas of Lowell. Mrs. Regopoulos was the Vault Clerk at the former Safety Fund National Bank on Main St. in Fitchburg for 10 years, retiring in 1993 due to illness. Previously, she was employed at the former Parke Snow Department Store on Main St. in Fitchburg as Retail Clerk for 20 years. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Fitchburg, where she was also active in the Elpis, until her illness. She was a 1951 graduate of Lowell High School and enjoyed reading, knitting, and spending time with her family. She was born in Lowell, MA, on September 22, 1933, a daughter of the late Andrew and Athena (Malapanis) Theokas, and lived in this area for most of her life. REGOPOULOS Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 29, at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours at the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, are on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1319 Main St., Fitchburg, Ma. 01420 or may be left at the Funeral Home.
