Frederick DiLucci Obituary

Frederick J. 'Fred' DiLucci Fitchburg, musician, decorated Army vet; 86 FITCHBURG Frederick J. "Fred" DiLucci, 86, of Fitchburg, MA, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness. He was born to Vincent and Mary (Padula) Dilucci on August 12,1922, in Fitchburg, MA, and has lived here all of his life. Fred attended school in Fitchburg and was a graduate of Fitchburg High School. Mr. DiLucci was a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He participated in the battles of Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Ardennes. He received a Bronze Star and Distinguished Unit Badge. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Fred worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired from there many years ago. Fred shared a real love and passion for classical music which over the years he shared with his many friends and family. As an accomplished musician, he played the Viola for the Thayer Symphony Orchestra for 15 years. He was active in the music field for over 60 years. He was also a member of the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks #847 from 1950 until 1980 and was a longtime member of St. Anthony De Padua Church. He is survived by several loving nephews and cousins. He will be truly missed by all of his musical friends and all who knew and loved him. DiLUCCI A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008 in St. Anthony De Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Lavery Chartrrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg is directing the arrangements.

Uncle Fred was my favorite Uncle . My special memories would be our conversations . He was always suportive and we will miss him . Hes with god now, and I know he's smileing down at all of us from Heaven.

I was blessed to meet Mr. DiLucci when I worked for the physical therapy office he attended and then continued to see him where I am currently employed. He always impressed me with his independance and positive outlook. When asked how he was his response would be, "I'm up and moving around so it's a good day"! Thanks for passing on you're outlook on life, you will be missed.
