Mary Ianuzzi Obituary

Mary R. (Leone) Bakstran Ianuzzi Westminster, Fitchburg church member; 88 WESTMINSTER Mary Rose (Leone) Bakstran Ianuzzi, 88, formerly of 5 Meetinghouse Road, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner. Mrs. Ianuzzi was born in Fitchburg, January 7, 1920, a daughter of Louis and Marion (LaGrassa) Leone, and was a 1938 graduate of Fitchburg High School. She was the wife of Arnold Bakstran who died in 1974, and Henry Ianuzzi who died in 1985. Mrs. Ianuzzi is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marion and Peter Tomasello, Gail and George Hebert, all of Westminster, Barbara Penfield of Middleton, CT; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Smith of Naples, Florida; a sister, Lucy Maniscalco of Albany, New York. She also leaves 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Filippina Leone, Grace Mannone, Jennie Anzaldi, Frances Lehto, and Frank Leone, all of Fitchburg. For many years, she worked as a winder tender at the former Fitchburg Yarn Company, retiring in 1980. Mrs. Ianuzzi was a longtime parishioner of the Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church in Fitchburg and was a member of its St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a member of the Westminster Chapter of the American Friendship Club. During WW II, Mrs. Ianuzzi received a Citation of Merit for her contribution to the war effort by working as a mechanic on B52 Bombers at the Buckingham Army Airfield, Fort Myers, Florida. IANUZZI A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 13th at the Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church, 118 Theresa St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fitchburg. Calling hours are from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, October 12th at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg.
