George R. 'Russ' Jordan longtime Lunenburg resident, GE retiree; 92 LUNENBURG George R. "Russ" Jordan, 92, of Lunenburg, died October 24th, at the Keystone Center in Leominster, after an illness. He was the husband of Mildred C. (Murray) who died January 4, 2004 after 65 years of marriage. Mr. Jordan was born in Williamstown, Mass., April 8, 1916, the son of the late Dr. George S., DVM and Mary L. (Covil) Jordan. He has resided in Lunenburg for nearly 60 years. He attended Hillside Industrial School in Greenwich Village, Mass. At the age of 8, George witnessed the beginning stages of building the Quabbin Reservoir. He later attended Lee High School and graduated from Pittsfield High in 1934. Mr. Jordan furthered his education, graduating from Wentworth Institute of Technology. He began his career in 1936 working for General Electric Company in Fitchburg, retiring in 1976, as a manufacturing engineer. During WW II, he served five years in the Massachusetts State Guard. He was a former Scout Master of Troop 12 Boy Scouts in Leominster. A motorcycle enthusiast, he was a longtime Social Member of the Massachusetts Chapter 2 of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. Mr. Jordan enjoyed creating jewelry from several types of stones, mostly with Chiastolite, a stone found naturally in Lancaster, Mass. He later turned his hobby to creating "Illusion in Wood", making name signs for thousands of people throughout the Montachusett area at no cost. Mr. Jordan is survived by his three sons, Russell R. and his wife, Rita (Wilson) Jordan of Essex, Mass., Lester F. and his wife, Darlene (Mathieu) Jordan of Fitchburg, Philip D. and his wife, Beatrice (Vincent) Jordan of Fitchburg; a daughter, Priscilla A., wife of the late Francis Harrington of Westminster; a brother, Robert H. and his wife, Evelyn (Hjelm) Jordan of Hallstead, PA; a sister, Greta L. wife of William Leach of Wakefield, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Beatrice (Cochran) Jordan of Seattle, WA. He also leaves several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was the brother of the late Frank S. Jordan of Goffstown, NH, Mary E. Jordan of Hazardville, CT, Paul M. and his wife, Marjorie (Boardway) Jordan of Barre, MA. JORDAN A visitation period will be 5-7 pm, Monday, October 27, 2008 at the Louis M.
