Richard Davis Obituary

Richard A. Davis of Westminster, retired carpenter; 77 WESTMINSTER Richard A. Davis, 77, beloved father and grandfather, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, in Health Alliance Leominster Hospital, after an illness. Mr. Davis was a self-employed carpenter for over 40 years and had continued to work until his illness had forced him to retire. He was an avid camper and photographer. He loved watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow up, and enjoyed tinkering with different projects for his children. He was born on December 8,1930, in Cranston, Rhode Island, the son of Herbert B. and Hilda (Cole) Davis, and has lived in Westminster, MA for the past 18 years in the home that he built. He is survived by his seven children, Glen A. Davis and his wife, Jacquelyn of Leominster, MA, Kurt R. Davis and his wife, Robin of Bedford NH, Kathy L. and her husband, Jeff Lore of Gardner, MA, Todd O. Davis and his wife, Holly of Westminster, MA, Richard A. Davis Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Newfields, NH, Paul B. Davis and his wife, Melissa of Gardner, MA, and Lisa J. and her husband, Todd Shimkus of Glens Falls, New York; 16 grandchildren, Shari and Erika Davis, Justin Lore, Melissa Alston, Rebekah Lore, Jason, Andrew, and Jayme Davis, Richard A. Davis III, Roger Davis, Alexandra Davis, Jordan Davis, Alyssa Davis, Brogan Davis, Ariel Cormier, Katelynne and Benjamin Shimkus; and 3 great-grandchildren, Gabriella Alston, Landon and Aydon Davis. He also leaves his 2 sisters, Shirley Turcotte of Owasa, Oklahoma, and Joyce Bissanti of Franklin, MA; along with many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Davis of Tulsa, Oklahoma. DAVIS A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in the Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA. at 11:30 a.m. A calling hour will preceed the service from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. A Shiva Minyon Observance will be held Wednesday and Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the home of Glen and Jackie Davis, 12 Monarch St., Leominster, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New England Hemophilia Association, Suite 42, 347 Washington St. Dedham, MA 02026, or to The American Cancer Society New England Chapter, 538 Preston Ave., Meridan CT 06450.
