She was born on June 29, 1926, the daughter of Thomas J. And Mary A. (Cook) Rock. She grew up in Leominster and later lived in Winchendon, and Sarasota, Fla.
She graduated from Leominster High School, and from Radcliff College in 1946.
She met her husband, Robert, while on a ski trip in North Conway, N.H., and they later married in 1948. They lived in Marlbehead and New York City before moving to Florida, where she worked for American Airlines.
She later returned to Leominster, and taught U.S. history, social studies and anthropology at Leominster High School while earning her masters degree in Russian studies and education from Assumption College.
More recently, she worked at G.IT. Travel in Leominster before retiring in 2000. During her retirement, Alice lived a busy, active life. One of her dreams was to learn to speak Spanish, as a result she became involved with the Spanish Group at The Leominster Senior Center for several years.
She enjoyed attending the annual Radcliff Luncheon and Symposium at The Harvard Club in Sarasota. She also loved to travel and traveled to Ireland and Scotland, Nova Scotia, the Columbia River in Oregon, Alaska, the Rose Bowl Parade in California, Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach with her husband, Robert.
Her greatest joys came from her time with her family, and close friends.
She leaves her husband, Robert; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth M.( Foss) Cleasby, of Laconia, N.H., many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was pre-deceased by a brother, Dr. Thomas S. Rock, and a sister, Catherine E. Philbin.
HEMEON -- A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct.8 at 10 a.m. in St. Leo’s Church, 108 Main St., Leominster. Burial services will be private. There are no calling hours. Curley-Marchand Funeral Home, 89 West St., Leominster, is handling all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to The Leominster Senior Center Living Memorial, 5 Pond St., Leominster, MA 01453.

Sorry to hear that one of my favorite teachers from the 1960's has passed. She was a kind woman and a sensitive teacher.
