Edward Koenig Obituary

VIRGINIA -- Edward Keith Koenig, 46, of Virginia, formerly of Fitchburg and North Carolina, died on Monday, Oct. 1.

He was born on July 13, 1961, in Leominster, son of George Koenig and Olivia (Stone) Blanck. Edward was very adventurous. He loved the outdoors and backpacked many times across the United States and Canada. He enjoyed carpentry and worked with Habitat for Humanity in Arizona. He also enjoyed string art, four-wheeling, music and poetry by Joe Henry.

He leaves his mother and stepfather, Olivia (Stone) and Harry Blanck of Lunenburg; his father, George Koenig of Idaho; two sisters, Danette Balsam of Fitchburg and Stephanie Doyle of Fitchburg; his maternal grandmother, Antoinette J. Stone, with whom he resided in his early years; many cousins, including Tobi Cameron of New York; his aunt, Michaele Stone of Concord, N.H.; his uncle, Jeffrey Stone of Belchertown; his stepgrandmother, Charlotte Blanck of Lunenburg.

KOENIG -- A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. in Rollstone Congregational Church, 199 Main St., Fitchburg. Donations may be made in his memory to Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat St., Americus, GA 31709.

I was Eddie's fourth grade teacher. I will always remember him as an inquisitive and friendly ten year old.
