Amy was born in Fitchburg, March 18, 1921, the daughter of Alan and Marion (Smith) Otto and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1938.
Before her marriage, she was a supervisor for the New England Tel & Tel. She was a longtime resident of Ashburnham. She was a former member of the Women’s Club of Ashburnham and Leominster, the Naukeag Lake Club and the Ashburnham Historical Society, where she discovered that she was related to one of the first selectmen of Ashburnham, John R. Conn, who helped lay out the town’s boundaries. He also was one of the Minutemen and fought at the battle of Concord and Lexington. Before the town employed a secretary for the selectmen, she acted in that capacity during her husband’s two terms as selectman.
She was an excellent horsewoman and tennis player and once headed the finals at the Western Mass. Women’s Tennis Tourney.
Amy leaves her husband of 63 years, John C. Hoye; her sons, John S. Hoye of Lake Worth, Fla., and Thomas M. Hoye of Falmouth; a brother, William A. Dietsche, of E. Longmeadow and a sister, Margrit Lamb, of Dedham.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Meeting House Hill Cemetery in Ashburnham. Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., is assisting the family.
