Irene Kane

ASHBURN, Va. -- Irene Cecile (Chabot) Kane, 91, of 20932 Cox Mills Court, Ashburn, Va., formerly of Medford Lakes, N.J., and former Fitchburg resident, died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester, Va., after a three-week illness.

Mrs. Kane was a dedicated registered professional nurse for 50 years, and dedicated her life to the loving care of all others. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School and a graduate of the former Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in Fitchburg. She was a former member of St. Bernard’s Parish in Fitchburg.

She was born in Fitchburg on Jan. 16, 1916, a daughter of the late Arthur and Exilda (Paquin) Chabot and lived in Virginia for the past 111Ú2 years.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John F. Kane Sr., in 2001. She leaves one son, Michael A. Kane and his wife, Deborah C., of Ashburn, Va.; twin grandsons, Jeffrey M. Kane and his wife, Nazneen, of Herndon, Va., and Eric W. Kane of Chicago, Ill.; one great-granddaughter, Imani Bea Kane of Herndon, Va.; three brothers, Andrew Chabot of Fitchburg, Edgar Chabot of Beverly and Richard Chabot of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; two sisters, Rita Ainaire of Springfield, Va., and Theresa Thibert of Orleans. She was predeceased by a son, John F. Kane Jr., of Medford Lakes, N.J., who died in 1995; a brother, Joseph Chabot; and a sister, Sister Mary Margaret Chabot of the Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

KANE -- Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 19, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church, 240 Water St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
