Richard King Obituary

FITCHBURG -- Richard Alton King, 88, of 1199 John Fitch Highway, died on Saturday, Nov. 17, at HealthAlliance Hospital/Leominster after an illness.

Richard was born in Fitchburg on Sept. 8, 1919, the son of Philip M. and Sarah G. (Kivlan) King. He was employed as an inspector at the former Independent Lock Co. I.L.C.O until its closing. He was an avid sports fan, and he especially loved classical music. One of his favorite vacation spots was Monhegan Island in Maine. He was a former member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Richard leaves his sister-in-law, Mildred King of Ashburnham; his stepsisters, Dorothy and Eleanor Griggs, both of Leominster; his niece, Susan Lessien and her husband, Dr. Bruce, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; three grandnieces; one grandnephew; great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. His brother, Philip H. King; and his stepbrother, Air Force Captain Vernon Griggs, predeceased him.

KING -- A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St. Burial will be at a later date.
