Arice was born in Canada on Aug. 30, 1940, the son of the late Adolph and the late Ida (Leblanc) Cormier. He grew up in Canada and moved to Leominster in 1960 at the age of 20.
Mr. Cormier was employed by Rockbestos Surprenant Cable Corporation in Clinton for 35 years, retiring in 1999. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church. Arice was the lead singer of the Country Rovers, the house band at the Country Lodge. Prior to that, he was in the house band for the Acadian Social Club in Gardner. Mr. Cormier enjoyed ice hockey and was a fan of the Montreal Canadians. He was an avid oil painter and painted the Last Supper many times for everyone in his family.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Edna M. (Goguen) Cormier; one son, Marcel J. Cormier and wife, Nora, of Leominster; two grandchildren, Steven J. Cormier and Jessica M. Cormier, all of Leominster; five sisters, Rose Cormier, Diana Cormier, Odette Cormier, Ann Marie Girouard and Zella Robinson, all of Canada; and four brothers, Ulysses Cormier of Gardner, Harvey Cormier, Leo-Paul Cormier and Rene Cormier, all of Canada. He was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard Cormier and Mark Cormier.
CORMIER -- A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 180 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 7, from 4-8 p.m. at the M.A. Simard & Son Funeral Home, 14 Walker St., Leominster. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
