Looking through all my old elementary school things and come across the cutest pic of you and I.
I'm just now finding out about your passing and even though it's been so long I still cried. You were the nicest boy, we walked to boys and girls club after school everyday and your mom was our cross guard. I will miss you forever Jon Rip my sweet sweet friend

The northern lights elementary school days seem so long ago now. I remember watching you and Randy skateboard in my neighborhood. You and your sister were never anything but kind. Rest in peace. Never forgotten. Thank you Jon!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jon in basic training at Ft. Sill. He was a great friend. He had a bunk right down from mine in basic training and medic school. We spent many nights staying up and talking about anything and everything. He was definitely someone who was very easy to open up to. Never will my memories about Hall slip my mind. He will live on in my heart forever.

To the family of PFC Jonathon Hall:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I know only too well what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. Holidays make this harder to get through and you will find that celebrating birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day & Father’s Day will never be the same. The road isn’t easy that you are about to travel nor are all the books on grief going to map it out for you. It’s ok, just know that we are here for you and will not leave you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Grief is an individual journey, that unfortunately like my own self you now have to travel. It doesn’t matter how they died but how they lived that we should focus on. We know that each one in our military joined to make a difference in their own lives and to serve their country. Please know that each one no matter what is an American Hero and to be honored always and forever. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to hold your hand as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your life. We also have a very active online support group for those who have died while active duty. You are welcome to join us as no one but those who have walked this path can even start to understand that grief.

Dear Steve, Robynn, and Tristyn,
I just heard about Jonathan and am so sorry for your family. It is such a sad time for everyone that knew Jon. I still think of him as the young man that was friends with Josh and spent the night at our house and played hockey. It just breaks my heart to know that he is not with us on earth. I will pray for strength for the family during this tough time.

To the family and friends of Jonathan Hall,
I am so sorry for your loss. After reading about Jonathan, I know what a wonderful man he was and how much he will be missed. I am most touched that his organs were donated -- that must bring you all such joy and pride.
My son, Army Sgt. Zachary D. Tellier, age 31, died on September 29, 2007, also in Paktika Province. Our sons are heroes to us, although they probably wouldn't want to be called that. They were doing their jobs and wouldn't have wanted anyone else to die instead of them.
Jonathan will always be remembered by us all. Hold your heads high and be very proud.
Thinking of you,

I was honored to have served for a time with Jonathan. Service and training took us from plains of Oklahoma, through heat of Texas, on through Ft. Campbell. He was always that great guy everyone can turn to in hectic times. Always calm and eager to help, I know he looks down upon us eager to keep landing a hand to a felow soldier. All of us Gator medics will miss our battle buddy the same way we always did "a hundred percent, 'till we collapse"

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Jonathan will never be forgotten.
For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms PFC. Jonathan Hall. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jonathan. And to Jonathan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Jonathan, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,353 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jonathan’s family and loved ones.

I remember when we were younger going to school at Northern Lights and you would tell me everything I ever wanted to know about any and every airplane out there. I remember how much effort you would put into any task you were given, from a simple assignment to a 2 week project, you ALWAYS made sure you did your best. As I read your obituary I see your hard work and dedication never dissapeared. Just as I remember your hard work and dedication so will your fellow soldiers. I am greatful to know I have served in the United States Military with such a brave and incredible soldier. You will not be forgotten. My prayers and deepest condolences are with your family.

To the family, my heart goes out. I too have lost a son. To Jonathan, my highest respect and thanks for giving to your country and to us all WITH your all. All three of my sons are in the army, one in Iraq, one leaving next week for Afghanistan. The third will go in the near future. I cherish each day I get to speak to them and pray for their safety, as I have for all the soldiers which include Jonathan, even though I never knew him. You are now a soldier with the highest rank!!! And you will help guard this country and your family from the beautiful heavens. May you be in perfect peace as you sit with The Commander of this universe. God bless you PFC Jonathan Hall.

A heartfelt thank you to Jonathan, a hero through and through, who will literally live on in the hearts and minds of donor recipients. And, another thank you to his generous family. The ultimate sacrifice, this young man who laid down his life for his country.

Wow! a hero in life and in death. Because of your son, we all get to live in freedom. AND... several people get to keep living through the generous donation of vital organs. Although I did not know Jonathan, I am grateful for his service and his donation. He will be remembered by many who did not get to know him. My deepest sympathy and heartfelt thanks go out to Jonathan's family.

Isaiah 57:1,2 (NAS)
1. The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart;
And devout men are taken away, while no one understands.
For the righteous man is taken away from evil,
2. He enters into peace;
They rest in their beds,
Each one who walked in his upright way.
Jonathan is with God now, totally healed. And yet, in a way, Jonathan lives on on earth because he was an organ donor. His was the ultimate, unselfish gift that he left behind.
May God's love and comfort surround his family and friends in the times ahead.
