Hello,

We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Chauncy R. Mays US Army Staff Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

It was an honor to be by your families side in this time of when they lost you. My youngest son and I not only honored you and your family by wayching you go by at the Walmart in Sulphur Springs, but my husband and I rode his motorcylce to honor you on that friday you were buried. Which was also my birthday. We think of you and your family often. We hope that the family is still on the path upward to healing. Thank you and your family for the ultimate sacrifice you made for us and our country. J.R. and Jennifer Borden formerly of Winnsboro Texas.

To the family of Staff Sgt. Chauncy R. Mays:
Chauncy gave the ultimate sacrifice and will be held in the hearts of Americans forever. I cannot and will not let our fallen heroes be forgotten. My deepest sympathy to you. "Some gave all."

May 7, 2011

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of SSgt. Mays and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of freedom and liberty. Sadly, America has lost one of its finest heroes, the U.S. has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage, which they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice SSgt. Mays has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends, of SSgt. Mays, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to carry on. Just as you were always with him when he was deployed overseas, know that he will always be with you wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that SSgt. Mays was a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid, they have earned our undying gratitude. America will never, ever forget their sacrifices."

SSgt. Mays the flag of the United States of America has your blood sewn into the fabric; it shall forever wave in your honor.

Freedom requires sacrifice the protected will never know.

I'm at fourth grade teacher at Lamar Elementary in Greenville, Tx. Our students learned a true "life lesson" today, as we talked about the price of freedom. We made hand made banners and flags, and lined the front of our school to honor you and your service to our country. We were all thankful for all you've done for the love and freedom of our country. God Bless You and your family. We honor you!

I wish to add my admiration for the sacrifice. Your brothers remaining in harm's way are safer for your remaining on watch. It is the bravery of men like Chauncy that makes our country safer. Thank you.

To your family: our family sends deepest empathy and prayers in your time of grief. We understand the emptiness and pain with each breath in the days and months to follow. We lost our loved one over 4 years ago in Iraq. Peace will come at the times most needed. Expect pennies from heaven and you will know Chauncy is okay. God bless you and know our prayers are with you always.

To a man who died serving his country, who I can only remember as a small boy at home with his family playing on an old front porch in East Texas. Today was truly a humbling sight to see so many line the streets of Sulphur Springs , saluting you, our fallen hero and providing the only comfort we can as friends and a community. I am praying for the loved ones you left behind. I know you will be dearly missed. God bless you and your family.

I had the priviledge of knowing Chauncy through his Mom when I worked at Como Pickton. Allison, I know that words cannot remove the grief you feel right now. And that is as it should be...because love in its purest form, such as love for a child, feels the loss as no other. As you read the kind words left by many others, let their love for Chauncy, or the love for his service, comfort you in the knowledge that his life was bigger than his body. I pray for your healing and I salute, as a fellow veteran and patriot, the life and legacy of Staff Sergeant Chauncy Mays. Farewell and Godspeed young man, till we all meet again with our Father in Heaven.

Mays Family,
I did not know Chauncy personally, but I feel a special bond with your family. My brother, SFC Allen Mosteiro, was killed February 14, 2007 in Iraq. I found solace in knowing he died a hero, fighting for what he so strongly believed in. There is not much comfort in the fact that he died serving our country, but know that he died a hero. Thank you for your sacrifice. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all your wonderful memories.

Chauncy, take your place in our hearts as a true hero. You will NEVER be forgotten!!
