I served as Cpl Gerena's First Sergeant in Iraq. His patrol had just dropped me off at Combat Outpost 3 moments before he lost his life. He was a good Marine that made a difference, he believed in our mission and made the ultimate sacrifice. He is one of the Heros that make our freedom possible. Not a day goes by that I don't miss seeing your face, hearing your laugh, or getting up at zero dark thirty, heading to your room and sounding reveille for your little butt to get out of the rack...I truly missed every second you spent with my before your departure, and I have only wished day in and day out that I would have seen you leave this one last time, if I knew it would be the last time I saw you, hugged you, or told you I loved you, I would stop the minutes and make them last for an eternatly. I know your in a better place now, and looking down on me and Kameron, and he stops by your picture occasionally to ask where his cousin OG is at, my heartfelt words to him are, with angels up above watching over him. Every day I put on my cammies and head to work, or aboard that flight to back to Iraq, I have you close at heart, understanding why you gave the ultimate sacrifice, as would I, for a country I love, people I love, and a God who is almighty. There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I was in Hit too apart of the same Battalion as your son. That night has haunted me forever and I dont think Ill ever shake it. It all happened so fast. I mean I shouldnt make you any sadder than you must feel so I will say this. I too think of your son and my friend Parr and our brother Spann all the days since. I wish you the best and you have all my condolences and respect for bringing such an amazing person in this world to help and protect us all. This Doc wont ever forget what those 3 have done for their country. Id give my own life to bring any of their back. But we just couldnt. Thank you again.

It's been a year but im still feeling empty.I still miss him a lot.I still can't believe that hes not with us.Such a shame.He took me everywhere.The mall,dinner,movies,play basketball.I rememba he got locked out 1 night and came knocking on my window.It scared me half to death.lol.But then the day came and when his wife told me i just flat out dropped.I still can't believe it.love you so much cousin.

Lamentable enterarme de esta pérdida cuando estaba recordando con un amigo las amistades de la escuela, no podía creer la noticia, hasta que lo busqué por internet. Espero en Dios que la familia pueda recuperarse, tener fortaleza, pues él cumplió con su trabajo y aunque sea difícil de aceptar no podemos ser egoístas en esta vida. Mi mas sentido pésame, un poco tarde, pero están en mis oraciones.
Tuve la oportunidad de conocer a Orville en la escuela secundaria, a la familia le deseo fortaleza, pues no recibimos cargas que no podramos soportar. Mi esposo también es parte del ejército de los EU, y sé que no es fácil.
