I will never forget 9/11/01. I had the privilege of walking around the wall and water falls at the site of WTC in NYC. It has been 23 years. I can´t imagine the pain that families have experienced. I know that I find myself with emotions when I think of the families. May God Bless

I just wanted to share a photo of my son during the Walk to Remember for the firefighters of NYC lost on 9/11. My son walked for Terence McShane and honored him by ringing the bell at our local fire station. The walk takes place in the small town of Belton, SC.

Looking at the TV watching news in Portland Oregon before leaving for work seeing the first tower come down. It was more like a movie I told my husband. Then later no planes were flying. So very sad. I know heartache because my husband passed 2/27/24

There were many, many heroes on 9/11. One whom I particularly remember is Off. Moira Smith of the NYPD. She repeatedly went in and out of the towers to rescue people--she was last seen going into one of the towers to help a woman who had collapsed with asthma. I am a college professor, and much of my teaching involves teaching first responders how to deal with terrorism. The heroism shown by Off. Smith on 9/11 continues to inspire me as I go about my teaching. Off. Smith, you will never be forgotten. In Christ, Dr. Ernest Evans

May we, as Americans be ever vigilant and protect ourselves from our enemies so the 9/11 tragedy never happens again. Honoring all the past and present first responders and our military members, also past and present who carry the burden of protecting us. God bless America!

Thank you for keeping this National Book of Remembrance. It serves a very important purpose and on a personal note, this book means a great deal to me as I am the sister of one of the brave first responders lost that day. Since I am a transplanted New Yorker, this book serves as a critical connection with the September 11th tragedy. We must never forget what happened that day and we must never ever take our brave first responders for granted. They put their lives on the line for us every single day and every hour that they are on AND off duty. Their oath and dedication to service to others was prominent that day and quite contagious. What the enemy thought they would accomplish failed big time. A united America stood tall and showed them that good overcame hatred and division. May we all live and respect one another and carry on the kind and caring message that those heroes carried out. They were there for the most vulnerable that day; they offered their presence as a source of hope to the many innocent victims of that horror. May God bless all the families who were touched in some way that day. Thank you so much. I am so proud of my little brother, Lt. Joseph G. Leavey, FDNY Ladder 15, South Tower. May he rest in peace.

I will never forget that day. I was in my forties and had gone back to school. I was getting ready to go to class when I heard it on the news. I ran to the TV to see what was going on. And there it was, a plane crashing into one of the buildings. I will never forget all those people that died. It was horrible.

So many lives were lost, so many innocent people. They are all by Gods side now, watching us people on earth hurting and loving each other.
You will no longer suffer as we do, nor as you did on 9/11, you wont be forgotten and your deaths were not meaningless, from little 2 year old Christine, to 85 year old Robert, I hope your lives were well lived cause Heaven is plain better in every way.
I hope we people down here meet you up there.

I decided that this year I wanted to commemorate the victims of 9-11 by getting to know them on a personal level. I went to the CNN Sept. 11 Memorial website and started to look at the countless names. I began to scroll and look at the pictures next to the name. Then I saw that 100 dollar smile and decided I wanted to know a little bit more about that man. His name is Andrew Abbot, and before I go any further I want to take this moment to give my condolences to the loved ones of Andrew Abate. May he rest in peace. Let me end this message by telling you what I learned about Andrew. Andrew was witty and apparently had a warm greeting that I can imagine could light up a dark room. He was also really good at playing racquetball and he cared about the people around him. He sounded like a great guy and I am glad I got to know him. My thoughts and prayers with the families, friends, and coworkers of Andrew and all those who lost their loved on Sept. 11.
