Little Mike and Karen,

Your father changed many lives and mine being one, he will always be remembered with a toughness, encompassing laugh, and a love for family, football, and friends. Coach was one of a kind! He brought out the best in us, and when we beat GJHS in football in 1978, the first time in many, years Fruita did this, he had a joy in his heart only a few of us saw. I'm going to miss your dad very much.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad.
I have many fond memories of him as my Psych teacher senior year and of what a great coach he was. It was so fun to get reaquainted with him at the ball park when our boys were playing little league, he really added to the enjoyment of the games for me! To the Ligrani family,
I was one of many fortunate enough to have played for Coach Ligrani. He was pretty tough but I think he brought out the best in us. I know he made me a better player and team mate. I can think of many, many times that he showed how much he cared about me and others. I will never look at the framed picture of us on the sidelines in the same way. Remember, Coach, all the champions show their true colors in the 4th quarter! I know you will be in good company.

Dear Bess and family: I was saddened to see that Don has passed away. I've moved from Grand Junction so I pull the paper up on line occasionally. Today it was to find out about several friends going to that "better" place. I'm sorry for your loss. Memories will make you strong. With love...M.J. Matteroli
