Raymond Smith Obituary

Raymond D. Smith, age 82, passed away December 27, 2008. Raymond was born November 26, 1926, in Clarkston, Michigan, to William D. and Maude (Owen) Smith. Raymond was a resident of Colorado Springs for 48 years and the owner/operator of a coin-operated laundry business. He was member of the East United Methodist Church, and former member of the Sertoma Club and Veteran Motor Car Club as part of his life-long passion for vintage cars. Raymond is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; sister Malvina McCreight (Lou); son Paul Smith (Barbara); daughter Julia Smith; grandchildren Kim Smith, Alicia Porras (Noah), Brad Smith, and Ashley Carter (Andrew); and a great-grandchild Grayson Porras. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Smith. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, January 2, 2009, at East United Methodist Church, 1505 E. Monument, Colorado Springs. A reception will follow the memorial service. Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
