Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Johnson Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in Afghanistan. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Lavena L. Johnson US Army Private 1st Class. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

To the dear family of LaVena,
I had contacted you in the year that LaVena passed. You might have thought since you have not heard from me that I have forgotten, I have not.
Even though you have not heard back from me, I think of you all so often and pray that God brings you a peace that only HE can.

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

May God Bless the family of Pvt. Lavena L. Johnson. I first met Lavenna at Fort Lee, Virginia. She was a very sweet young lady. I often encouraged her as she encouraged me. She was like a daughter to me. I am 16 years older than her. Like Lavena I to was suppose to go to FT. Campbell but I became sick. Her Advice to me was to stop eating Meat since she was a vegetarian. All in all I just Want her family to know that She was and will always be a beautiful young lady. She was the 1 in a million. My hearts goes out to her family and friends. Her last words to me was "I am going to Iraq" My last words to her was "always pray". The reason I am typing this is because I consider her a friend. I have showed all my coworkers and my children her picture and I say this is my friend. May god keep her family. As a mother of 2 boys I cannot imagine the pain that you (Mr. and Mrs. Johnson ) are feeling. I just pray that my letter will comfort you. Your daughter was a blessing to be around. Her beautiful smile and angelic presence will always be in my memory. God Bless Your family.

To the Family and Friends of Pvt. Lavina Johnson,
There are no words that can be spoken for the loss of your precious Marine, Lavina. I am truly sorry for your loss and for Lavina's great and ultimate sacrifice. While I did not know your loved one, Lavina, on a personal level, I do know her. She was proud to serve her flag and country. She stood tall during our National Anthem. She wore her uniform with honor. She wanted her family and her "American family" to sleep safe and in peace. She wanted her family to have the freedoms that the people of lands far away sometimes do not even dare to dream of. She looked into the eyes of the people in those places where there is no freedom and she cried for their pain. She tried to make a small part of the life around her a little better if only to bring a smile or wipe a tear. I know your loved one. I know her face at the airport leaving her loved ones. I know her face on the newscasts, sometimes scared but still proud of her work. I know her face. I know her pride. I know her love. I know her and I love her and all that she believed in and all that she risked. My nephew and 2 sons are her Marine brothers. My family and I know your loved one, Lavina. We know the reality of and appreciate the ultimate sacrifice. Stand proud, stand strong. I am so sorry for your loss.

The will of God will never take you where the grace of God cannot keep you, where the riches of God cannot supply your needs or where the power of God cannot endow you.
The will of God will never take you where the love of God cannot enfold you. Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you or where the peace of God cannot calm your fears and where the authority of God cannot overrule for you.
The Will of God will never take you where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears or the word of God cannot feed you and where the miracles of God cannot be done for you.

Weep not for me now that I have passed. Remember the laughter, the affection, the joy not just the recent tears. Cherish the memories, our hopes and dreams. Hold fast to the love that we shared. Be happy with the time we spent together and being anew. For I am not really gone, I am closer than ever before.
As the morning sun rises and throughout the busy day…I am with you. Until the setting sun disappears on the horizon and we watch the day turn into night…I am here. You may feel a faint breeze stir round your head, while you slumber as I gently kiss your forehead, “Good night”. The stars that shine so brightly in my heavenly sky help me watch over you and keep you from harm.
I am the wind in the trees and the song of a bird. I am moonbeams in a midnight sky and a glorious rainbow after the storm. I am morning dew and freshly fallen snow. I am a butterfly flying overhead and a puppy happily at play. I am a smile on a stranger’s face, a gentle touch, a warm embrace. Listen to the wind for my message of love. Watch the sun rise and set in the sky with me. Feel my essence encircle you with warm memories. Open your heart to know… I am not gone.
Reach deep into your soul… You will find me.
I am here. Have no fear. I am with you, always.
Our prayers are with your family.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Pfc. LaVena L. Johnson. My heart aches for you and you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that the deep hurt you feel can be in some part eased by the feeling of great pride for LaVena’s valor and deep sense of patriotism.
LaVena, you have made the ultimate sacrifice and served willingly and without hesitation. Thank you so very much for defending my freedom. It means so much to me, to the people of NYC and to the entire nation. Thank you for your bravery and sacrifice in the service of the country that I love so very much. You will always be remembered as an American hero by my family.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
May God be with you until we all meet a Jesus' feet.
Most Sincerely,
Pat

My sincere condolences go out to all those mourning the loss of Pfc. Johnson. I pray that you will find solace in those that you love around you, in your happy memories of Pfc. Johnson, and in the fact that you can be certain she will never be forgotten, for she was an American hero who put herself in danger for others and for this country. Helen Keller said a beautiful thing that always makes me think of our fallen heroes and the mark they will leave. She said, "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Very true, no? My prayers and my condolences go out to you.

To the family of Pvt LaVena L. Johnson:
We are so sorry for your loss.
"I give you this,
one thought to keep,
I am with you still,
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken
in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars
that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still,
in each new dawn."

my dad always lived by these words
ANYTHING WORTH STARTING, IS WORTH GIVING IT YOUR ALL, DOING YOUR BEST AND FINISHING, your goal is to MAKE YOURSELF PROUD IN ALL THAT YOU DO...DONALD DOOLEY UN-SUNG NAVAL HERO ON THE PACIFIC AFTER PEARL HARBOR WAS ATTACKED 1926-2001 dad knew it was important to protect family, flag and country. just as your son did, he knew in his heart it was his honor to go and protect us here at home. IT IS MUCH BETTER TO FIGHT THE ENEMY ON THEIR SOIL THAN IT IS TO FIGHT THEM HERE AT HOME AND HAVE MORE LIVES LOST, NOT JUST THE SOLDIERS BUT EVERYONE ELSE. i'm honored to share my dad's thoughts with you, and so honored that your son gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep us here in the states free from the enemy.
