Jerry Moon Obituary

Jerry Ray Moon, age 68, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, March 29, 2009. He was serving with his beloved wife as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California San Diego Mission.
He was born April 28, 1940, in Murray, Utah, the son of Elmer and Arwella Pierce Moon. He married his high school sweetheart Myrna Kay Stevenson on Dec. 18, 1959, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Jerry grew up in Duchesne, Utah, spending many years of his life working with his father on a sheep ranch. He graduated from BYU, Stonier Graduate School of Banking and earned many other degrees in finance. He retired from banking after 35 years.
Jerry had a strong testimony and love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He held many positions in the church, including serving as an ordinance worker in the San Diego Temple. He loved serving others. The joy of his life was his beloved family. Jerry loved the outdoors and some of his happiest times were spent, camping, fishing and "going-on-safari" with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Myrna Kay Stevenson Moon of Logan, Utah; children: Joseph Ray Moon of Salt Lake City, Utah; Rachelle Marie Pearce of Logan, Utah; Heidi Kay (Mike) Orr of St. George, Utah; Jennifer Ann (Reuben) Hechtle of Logan, Utah; Heather Joy (Daryn) Cox of Ogden, Utah; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother and all others who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Lorin and Rose Miles Stevenson, Ralph Stevenson and Coleen S. Bench.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009, in the Lundstrom Park Chapel, 1260 N. 1600 East, Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan and prior to services Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial services will be held at approximately 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Mt. Home/Boneta Cemetery, Mt. Home, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net.

My sympathies go out to you in your loss. I was a grade behind Jerry in school and remember that he loved sports, especially basketball. If I remember right, Kaye was a cheerleader. I'm sure he will be missed and fondly remembered by many.
