Frederick Schlegel Obituary

SCHLEGEL, Frederick James Frederick James Schlegel, 87, died Wednesday (November 30, 2005) at St. Mary Home, where he had been a resident in recent years. Born on March 20, 1918, the son of Agnes and Rufus Schlegel, he was a lifelong resident of Waterbury, moving to St. Mary Home in West Hartford in 1999. He was the husband of the late Rita Bergeron Schlegel. He served in the Merchant Marine in World War II, and was employed for many years at the Connecticut Light and Power Company, in the gas meter department in Waterbury. He is survived by three sons, Mark and his wife, Janis Schlegel of Ellington, David and his wife, Pat Schlegel of Oak Ridge, TN, and Larry and his wife, Joan Schlegel of Unionville. He leaves four grandchildren, Brian, Arianna, Bethany, and Sarah Schlegel. A memorial mass will be held in the chapel of St. Mary Home, 2021 Albany Ave, West Hartford, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 17. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Home, 2021 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Funeral arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.
