Carol Gottier Obituary

GOTTIER, Carol (Lanz) Carol (Lanz) Gottier, 72, of Ellington, beloved wife for 53 years to Warren J. Gottier, passed from this life peacefully with her loving family by her side on Thursday, (November 9, 2006) after a courageous battle with cancer. Carol passed away at her home, overlooking Crystal Lake, at sunset, which was her favorite time of the day. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Arthur and Fannie (Zimmerman) Lanz, she lived in the Talcottville section of Vernon before moving to Ellington 14 years ago. She was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1952, and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Ellington. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to the Dominican Republic and spending the past five winters in Florida. Carol was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family and her church were very important to her, as her door was always open to family and friends and her table was always set with an extra plate for unexpected guests. Besides her husband, she is survived by her beloved children, Terry Mangold and her husband Edward of Ellington, Dale Gottier and his wife Shirley of Ellington, Jan Boynton and her husband Ken of Vernon, Rick Gottier and his companion Claudette Pellitier of Ellington, Guy Gottier and Beth of Ellington, Eric Gottier and his wife Daryl of Vernon, and Todd Gottier and his wife Sandra of Ellington; 19 grandchildren, Scott and his wife Jennifer, David and his wife Heather, Jennifer and her husband Jamie, Jeanette and her husband Kevin, Matthew and his wife Danielle, Jason, Nicole, Jon, Carolyn, Kristyn, Bruce, Kevin, Julianne, Justin, Janelle, Nathan, Emily, Christina and Katelyn; seven great grandchildren, Leah, Alison, Mackenzie, Rachel, Jillian, Aubrie and Carl; a sister, Beverly Gerber and her husband Ed of Ellington; many nieces and nephews; and many dear close friends whom she considered family. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, November 12, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rt. 83), Vernon. A funeral service will be held on Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Rd., Ellington. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery. Her family would like to thank the visiting nurses and especially Dan Walker for all of the wonderful care that they gave to Carol and her family during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carol may be made to Visiting Nurses & Health Services of CT, 8 Keynote Dr., Vernon, CT 06066 or to the Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Rd., Ellington, CT 06029.
