I am glad I met and talked to Eric 1 time, up in Vernon. He didn't know me, but our mutual passion for music made the connection. I could tell he had a good soul, and came away from that chance meeting with a nice memory.

Eric, two years have slipped by since you left and I still think of you all the time. I wish we could have one of our funny conversations, or watch you smoke a cigarette, or play some music together. I stop by quite often and say HI and think of how you and Pat could throw stones at each other.Rest easy Eric Baby and I hope we can meet again somewhere.....

I have this fantasy that Eric is setting Torri straight about how to play music. But there is no fantasy that can be the salve to the pain..

David Fletcher, age 8, received a couple of guitars at his uncle's passing. On March 29, he will be performing at his grade school's talent show after a year of lessons. He will be playing "Zombie", which was a hit song by the Cranberries several years ago. He is receiving a lot of attention at rehearsals from the girls in his school.

I think George Gould's memories testimonial made the grandest of gestures of why so many people honored, with grace, laughter, and wisdom this great man.
Then came the guitar and we've had to learn the HARD WAY what it's like to miss the man playing that slide.
To his family, friends, and "The Band", prayers of love to you all. You couldn't ask for better memories.........he was a treasure.

One of a kind, drinking the essence of life, open-minded artistically talented with expressions, reflections and communications, common sense intellect, cordial, subtle, honorable, witty with humor that is the saving grace of the soul! That is the traits that we both carry on together always! Energy, said Einstein, cannot be created or destroyed! Your friend always, George Gould

Eric was the sole reason I would go down to the music shop. He was always good for talking a little shop and always supportive with any experimentation I came in to get feedback on, even if it was a ridiculous experiment.

I will miss Eric more than I would have guessed and could never forget what an experience with a GOOD salesman was like. It's a very rare occurence. Unfortunately, i was never exposed to Eric's guitar playing as he kept it low-key at the store. If I ever buy a hollowbody electric, it will be because I remember Eric always wanting to discuss these foreign things with me.
Rest in peace

I have been lost in thoughts of Eric since finding out about his passing just last week. I hadn't seem him for quite a while but Eric will always be a big part of my past. I will miss knowing that he is somewhere on this planet making great music. I will miss his unique and wonderful phrasing both in his music and his speech. My sympathy to all who knew and loved him.

I also just heard about Eric passing, doesn't seem possible. I knew Eric from back in the late 70's and early 80's when I lived in the Manchester area. We never played in a band together, but we had lots of mutual friends, and I liked him alot.He was always great to see and talk with, loved his sense of humor, my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I only just recently learned of Eric's passing. Although I would generally see him only 1 or 2 times a year, he was one of those guys with which you could just pick up exactly where you left off; no matter how long ago it was. He had a fantastic sense of humor too! I am so sad to hear that he is gone. He will be missed by so many people. My condolences to his family.

Dear family and close friends of Eric:

I only knew Eric casually for a few years as one of the managers at Daddy's in Vernon. Eric was one of the nicest people I've met. I loved talking Beatles and Gretsch guitars with him. I'll truly miss him. May you find strength and comfort in your memories.

I met Eric in 1984. I was only 12 but Beller's Music was a second home to me. I would often spend long hours playing the keyboards, pouring through music books...and always picking Eric's brain about music and whatever else I could think of. Even though he may have been a little annoyed, he never showed it and gave me a most valuable education...not just in music but in life. He's one of those people you never forget. I never did forget and I never will. Thank you Eric. God Bless.

Dear Fletcher Family,

I knew Eric for 25 years. We played the same clubs, had the same friends and shared the same passion for music. Eric was always patient and helpful. A gentleman. Years later when I would drop into the store with my three children, he interacted with each of them, showed them instruments and genuinely took an interest in each of kids. We will miss Eric and I know the kids will miss him on our yearly trips back to Connecticut and to the "guitar" store. Our deepest sympathies.

My condolences and prayers go out to the Fletcher family.

I first met Eric in 1985 and last saw him a couple months ago. I didn't know him 'well', but revered him as the most honest salesman I've ever dealt with. He was about the music and the quality and value of the instrument...not the profit...what a rare quality by today's standards!

He was never in a hurry to make a sale, always taking the time to get to know the buyer's budget, musical style, answer questions, etc.

Thank you, Eric, for using your vast knowledge and love of music and equipment, putting other musician's best interest first in our search for the 'right' feel and sound.

You will be missed...

Dear Fletcher Family, I was so shocked and deeply saddened to hear that Eric died. I have a few yet precious memories of Eric when we were growing up as cousins. I'm at a loss for words, and grateful for the time that he was here. He leaves a special hole in our family that no one can fill; he will be missed, yet remembered well.

Eric,

Your musicality and wit will be sadly missed by all who have been lucky to play with you and call you a friend. You certainly knew your way around a Tele and you knew when to lay back, and when to show your hand.

Your music will live forever, as will your spirit.

June 2, 2006

I met Eric years ago at the Hungry Tiger Cafe. He truly was a gifted musician and was great on the stage. Eric was an interesting guy. When he wasn't playing, he always had time to talk. He had an opinion on everything, but was never negative. He would tell stories about Cub Koda, the music biz, or whatever was on his mind. He was never boring. I am blessed that I met him. He was a good person. I can't believe that he is gone.

Bobby Kuhl

June 2, 2006

I had the very good fortune to mix the live sound for the three piece band, Dead Fabulous in which Eric was the guitarist. I cherish those years for the originality, musicality and camaraderie that were part of their scene. It was so refreshing that Eric and the boys treated me not as a technician, but as the fourth member of their band and their friend. Over the years one thing became quite clear; the musicians and engineers of the Northeastern musical community held Eric's playing and friendship in very high esteem.

Although the years that our careers in music intertwined occurred over twenty years ago, I still regularly listen to the tapes of Dead Fab, both live and in the studio and marvel at the level of musicianship contained within them. Eric’s playing still hits you like a ton of bricks, presenting you with so much texture and color that you can listen to the same cut over and over again and still discover new gem like nuances in almost every bar. I feel lucky to have shared these experiences with Eric and feel that even the music he made twenty years ago stands up to the test of time, sounding retro, but still very fresh. His work with Dead Fab continues to win over new fans even today.

He was more than just a guitar player; he was a Master Craftsmen of the guitar. His understanding of tone and complex harmonic coloration, impeccable time keeping, musical and personal integrity, his raw, powerful style on a six string electric and his friendship will be most definitely missed in this world.

Mary V. Richter

I met Eric long ago; on a trip to Martha's Vineyard with his sister, Sandra. It was early in his musical career and Eric demonstrated great talent. My thoughts and prayers go to the Fletcher family during this sorrowful time.

Eric, the 'blonde god', I remember calling him on that when I first read it and he just laughed. In fact, although, I was not a close friend, he always had a smile on.

An excellent musician, another for the Heavens's band, leaving us here bereft and sad.

Dry wit and good nature made Eric an instantly likeable character to me. Though I have been away from CT for some time - I remember many interesting conversations with Eric on those early Saturday mornings at Beller's. It's no wonder he is missed by so many. Rest well.

Eric, the world will be a dimmer place without your sunny smile and sharp wit...you will be missed more than you could have imagined.

Eric always maintained that he had a guitar arrangment of "The Star Spangled Banner" before Jimi Hendrix...I believed that because the first time I saw Eric, at a Jr High in Glastonbury (1968?), he did his version...in recent years we saw each other infrequently, talked on the phone every few months...he was a reliable touchstone. For me, Eric represented the Manchester of my younger days..when it was all ahead of us and we were all yet-to-be-discovered Rock Stars. He was a Great guitarist and a very smart, irreverent, and funny guy! I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this very sad time.

My brother.

You lived your dream - something we should all strive for.

You have the love of your family and more friends that we can begin to imagine.

You earned the respect of so many whose paths you've crossed in the music industry.

We are learning so much more about you as each day passes.

You left us peacefully, for which we are thankful, but so suddenly and much, much too early.

We will love you and honor your life in the best ways we know.

I love you.
