Irving Kenny Obituary

Irving Kenny, 80, of Southington, died Wednesday, (July 3, 2002) at Bel-Air Manor in Newington. He was the beloved husband for 55 years, of Helen (Kazersky) Kenny. Born on July 28, 1921, the son of the late James and Eva (Salva) Kenny. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge with the 11th Army Division. Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed by Insilco in Meriden. Mr. Kenny was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion Kiltonic Post #72, a member of the Elks Club, the Lions Club and the Russian Seniors Club of Meriden. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and had worked as sexton at the church for 40 years. He had many friends in the community and his church and spent many hours for charity. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Michael Mowchan, Jr. of Newington; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Karen Kenny of Southington; four grandchildren, Kelly and Daniel Mowchan, and Andrew and Kyle Kenny; a brother-in-law, Walter and his wife Jane Kazerky of Yalesville; sisters-in-law, Sophie Hull of Yalesville, Mary Bilodeau of Meriden, and Bonnie Botteon, who has always been a extended member of the Kenny Family; also several nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Phyliss Perillo of Southington. He was predeceased in 1974 by brother, Francis Kenny; and a brother-in-law, Alexander Kazersky. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 10 a.m., at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 145 Main St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, has charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 145 Main St., Southington, CT 06489.
