To HM3 Strickland's Family and Friends,
I know it's a little late but I didn't find out that HM3 Strickland died until this afternoon when we were doing a practice for our Hospital Corpsman Birthday Ceremony. They called his name and I didn't believe it at first b/c I went to OEMS trainig back in December 2007 with HM3 Strickland and that was when I met him. I asked a lot of people when he died but no one knew, so I Google his name on my phone and sure enough I saw his picture. I still can't believe it, I was hoping to find him in myspace so we could hang out once he got back. To me I felt like I knew him for a while, we hanged out, ate out, and went shopping. He was suppose to buy his mom a Christmas gift but instead he bought a really nice watch for him in Belk. He was very nice and funny, to me he made the training more fun and memorable. He gave me good advice about relationships and about life. He made me forget about my problems and he always had the smile that made your problems go away. Also, I asked him what his first name was and he said Ike, like the candy Mike and Ike. That's one of the reason why I couldn't find him in myspace because I didn't spell his name correctly.
While writing this, I still can't believe that he's gone. I will surely miss him even though we only hanged out or only knew him for 2 weeks. I wish his family all the best and all my love, prayers and thoughts to his family, friends, co-workers and to everyone that knew him. "Ike" miss na miss kita and I love you and I will never forget you. You're always in my heart...

To Yole and Family,
In behalf of my family, I would like to extend my condolences to the loss of your great son Eiky. I will miss the calls that he usually did whenever he visited the Philippines. Yole, you raised a very good, well-mannered son. He is still truly a Filipino and am very proud of him. I salute you.
Eiky, may you find everlasting peace in the Lord.

To replace Ike would be impossible. He showed me a lot about life and really opened up my eyes. I have never had conversations about God and life quite like the ones we had. Ike, you truely are blessed. You beat me home, but I know my time will come when I can join you soon and I know you'll be waiting at the front gate for me! I love you Ike.

Eichmann, you will be missed. I'm so glad that you called me as much as you could and I got to speak to you. It's been a while now, and I still can't imagine that you will not be returning. I have your X-mas stocking and I don't know what to do with it. We love you and you will always be in our hearts.

I will miss you! I thank God for giving me the oppurtunity to meet a friend like him. We only spent a short time together during FMSS, but he really made those 8 weeks so much better. The last time I talked to him was when he was still in Japan and he told me he was getting deployed. I couldn't believe it when I saw his picture in Navy times. To his family, I extend my deepest condolences. He was a great friend and he is home now.

Yolly and family....It is soo very hard to find the right words to express the sympathy and saddness I feel for you all at this time. I have heard for years how very proud you are of both your sons, as well you should be. After reading all that has been said about Eichmann, all he has accomplished and how much he was loved and admired by all who knew him, I realized the pride you feel must be greater than I could have imagined. I, too, became very proud to know the mother that raised such a wonderful young man and soldier. Please take some comfort in knowing there are many who have you in their prayers and thoughts at this time.

My heart goes out to the family and close friends of HM3 Strickland. Strickland and I were very close friends throughout our Corpsmans school in Great Lakes. We would call eachother "best friend" and my nickname for him was "precious". My heart is truly broken, that such a wonderful person has been taken from us. HM3 Strickland and his family are in my prayers.

I am so sorry about the loss of your son. I worked with Strickland on the peds unit at camp pendleton, worked the night shift with him as he was then right out of corps school. I thank your beloved son for having served our country. May the Lord be with you and comfort you during this difficult time. Take care.

To the family of HMC Eichmann A. Strickland,
The people of Snohomish County are saddened by the loss of one of our own who passed away serving our country on September 9th, 2008. It once again brings home the reality of the wars in Afganistan & Iraq and the dangers our service people deal with every day. Because of the skills of this young man, he was able to take care of our own son's, as well as the Afgan people. He is truly a hero.....
To the family our sincere sympathy, may God grant you peace and consolation knowing that others mourn with you. May you rest in the assurance that we will all be united in Eternal life, where there is only peace......

First off, I want to let the family know that my prayers and sympathy is with them. I was stationed with Strickland at Camp Pendleton, and was lucky enough to be one of his friends. Ike, Erin, and I always hung out together and with strickland there we never had a dull moment. I am so happy that I had the short time to not only be his friend but to know and learn from him. The last time I spoke to him on the phone was when my son was born in March and i was so excited to hear his voice, A voice that you can never forget. I will miss him with all my heart, and we should all remember that eventhough we wish we could have him here on Earth with us, he is in Heaven now looking and guiding us. RIP Ike.

You should be very proud of Eicky. He served his country with the ultimate sacrifice. Take care and God bless. See you in heaven someday Eicky..

My heartfelt condolences in the loss of your son. I have lost a son as well, and no one knows your pain like someone who has been there. We are blessed to have a group for bereaved moms in our area who get together once a month for a meal and to talk. We would love to have you join us. Somehow being with those of us who have walked this path before you helps to ease the pain. Any of us are here for you any time you need to talk. My heart goes out to you.

Strickland was one of the first persons i met when i came to Iwakuni Japan, he immediatley introduced himself and told me if i ever needed anything to let him know. Strickland became one of my best friends, he was always there for me when i needed to talk to someone, he always gave advice when i needed it. He made time here in Iwakuni more fun and worthwhile. Dear Ken, Yolanda, and family,
Having just returned home I was deeply saddened to hear that Eichmann was killed in action while serving our nation. I will always remember that gentle face that looked back at me each day in class. What a great gift heaven has received even though the loss is ours. My thoughts go out to all of you.
Sincerely,

I met Eich when we began our training with the ETT. As his senior corpsman I tasked him as my right hand man. Given he didn't want the job, he took it anyways and ran with it. He excelled well above my expectations, especially in the field with the harshest of conditions. He was praised for some spectacular feats from not only myself, but most importantly from hi Marines. It was an honor and a privilege to not only have served alongside a great man, but to have known him as well. I was hoping on reuniting after all this was over and celebrating with him....but now I'll have to postpone our celebration till we meet again. See you soon brother, rest easy. khudaa Hafiz, baaz kwaahad deedayn.

I will miss Eichmann so much. We'd been friends ever since the 3rd grade. I cherish all of the memories we have. I miss him. I wish that he didn't have to leave us. I know he is in a better place now, where no pain exsists. I am thankful for the time he spent serving our country. I am thankful to everyone who has served our country. I know he died doing what he loved to do. Rest In Peace Eicky.

I would like to send a message to Strickland's family. My son Hn Guidry, Jimmy trained with Strickland in Hawaii and Nevada and also in Afghanistan. Jim was home on leave when he received the news. He was so upset over the loss of his friend and fellow corpsman. He and his fiance shared stories of things they did when she had visited Jim in Hawaii. She thought Strickland was a great person. As a mother of a corpsman I have great pride in what they do. We would like to let you know that we are thinking of you and have you in our prayers. My son left today to go back to Afghanistan and while we were waiting at the airport he was telling us some more stories about Strickland. He will be missed.

Your son sounds like a wonderful young man that will be greatly missed by all that knew him. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that when you read these entries they bring you a sense of pride and you feel the love and support of all that have taken time to make an entry.
I too lost my son to this War, he was killed May 26th 2007 in Baghdad Iraq. We are still learning to live without our brave young man, this is a journey that is taken day by day and will sometimes feel like one that you just dont know how you will ever survive.
I too live in WA state so if you need someone to talk to I am here.
Love from a mom of a US Army Stryker Driver.
