I met Deb December 2007 after reconcilliation at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She told me her father was one of the deacon's there. Wound up having dinner with her and a long conversation that touched me greatly.
It's been weeks since I learned of her relapse, so I got online to see if there was hopefully improvement. I was shocked and deeply saddened to find she'd passed.
One thing that amazed me about her was how, in my perception of her, she was battling for her life, but that battle seemed to be so tempered by her love for life and her daughter, that the battle with cancer was only a part of her life, and she was not consumed by it. I saw no fear in her eyes, or in her voice, only perseverance, strength, and optimism.
Compared to most...I knew her little. But I am proud to have called her friend if but for only a small moment in her lifetime.
Goodbye Deb and know that crossing paths with you was important to me, meant through God's will, I have been touched by you, my life changed because of you, and I am so deeply saddened that our good and merciful God has taken you from us.
Must close with this, and only Deb will understand...when we meet again, and we will, I promise to choose a word other than "frumpy". Hopefully by then you'll have forgiven me!

I read Deborahs blog on her website and felt that I got to know her. What a special person she is. I feel especially sad for her daughter Zoe that she truly adored. May God bless her and watch over her and just know that Deb is in heaven and making friends and no longer hurting. Thank you for allowing us to view her blog.

Deb was and is an amazing inspiration to many. As a single mother my heart breaks for her daughter, Zoe. We met through Houston Connect and while we were not "friendly" I admired her spunk, spirit and tenacity. She lived, loved and fought for her child and that is all any child can ask for. Her wit and sassy writings will be greatly missed. Peace, love and healing to her family.

So very sorry for this loss. I feel for you all and know what it is like to loose a mother too soon. I pray for Zoe and the family that will raise her and keep her mother in her memories.
We will never forget her fiestyness and the way she love to dance. She's dancing with the angels now !!! Shake it girl !!

Though we weren't "close" I always looked up to Deb for her strength. She fought Cancer long and hard, like we all knew she would. She will be missed by all that knew her in person or just through her blogs. My heartfelt prayers and healing thoughts go out to her family, espeacially little Zoe. RIP Deb! And I hope you knew(know) how much you were truely loved!
